Snakes on a Plane Sound-Off!
There are those among us so in tune with the world wide web, so integrated to the internet, that they are not only familiar with a little project called "Snakes on a Plane", but they have been following it since its conception.
It is all culminating to this...
Tonight, a 10pm, myself and fellow nerds, geeks and /b/tards will go to the movie theatres and witness the most important film of our generation: "Snakes on a Plane".
My brothers and sisters! Who among ye generalites will be joining myself and others at tonights 10pm pre-screening of "Snake's on a Plane"!

Not I. I have standards as to the films I view. A film who's entire plot can be summed up in four words (two of which are On A) does not fall in those. The only conceivable reason I would watch it is to make fun of it, and that's generally frowned upon in the theater.
I don't understand the big fuss. It's just a rip off of a straight to DVD movie with Samuel Jackson in it.

I think you are missing the appeal of this movie.
And it spawns one of the coolest festivals ever (http://www.originalalamo.com/sites/2blanks/default.aspx), before it's even released.
This may be a bit of pop culture genius.

I must confess the movie sounds like a big turd. However, one can not deny the idea is original--and for that I do give credit. However, pay money to go to a theater to see this debacle--not a chance in hell.

It's not original. That's the point. It was done for a crappy cable TV movie with scorpions three or four years ago.

Outstanding.
Before you ask...yes I know that in all likelyhood this movie will bomb, but that's not the point.
It's a part of internet culture...Even if it sucks I'll be able to say "I was there, at the 10pm screening of SNAKES ON A PLANE!"
It's kind of like being able to say that you saw "Plan 9 from Outer Space" on one of the 3 days that it was in theatres.

It's likely to have one hell of an opening weekend.
Alas, despite being a /b/tard, I will not go see SoaP.
However, I will be keeping an eye on /b/ to see if anyone actually donned an afro and /b/locked the doorways :D

I think the parodys (http://www.originalalamo.com/sites/2blanks/default.aspx) of the film will be better than the film and sadly once its released this community will disappear

I disagree, making fun of a movie that is intentionally silly in the theatre is pretty standard.

Just so you guy's know WDGann's not full of BS:
Tail Sting (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290884/)
Prepared for a routine flight across the Pacific, lonely widower and pilot Jack Russell maneuvers his jet into the sky and unknowingly tightens the gap between his passengers and doom. Lying dormant in the craft's hull is a secret shipment of genetically engineered Scorpion fetuses, the creation of Dr. Jennifer Ryan and her team of biochemists for the purpose of discovering a vaccine. At the same time, Yaffi and his brother Sudan sneak onto the airplane speaking in hushed tones about a conspiracy of their own; to smuggle themselves into America. One of Jennifer's most trusted colleagues uses this opportunity to break into the cargo hold and steal the Scorpions. Each fetus sleeps submerged in a jell liquid inside its own glass container. While transferring the fetuses from their secure metal unit the scientist is discovered by security. A desperate fight ensues, containers break, and the Scorpions open their ugly black eyes.
It sounds like one of those horrible 'Sci-Fi Originals' that are basically excuses to waste a million bucks on fake blood and crappy fog machines...
It was - in the form above.
But it's hard to dislike a movie that inspired one of the best beer and pretzel RPGs I've come accross in a long time. Yep, there's already a SoaP RPG (http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=253565).

It was great.
It was actually pretty good, all things considered.
But the movie itself wasn't the biggest part of the evening. Being surrounded by a bunch of people who are just as big of geeks as you is quite the experience.

Snakes. On a plane. OK, so what?
Am I going to see it? No. Why? Well, I suppose because I am sick of it already. It was a funny idea for the first 5 minutes of the hype, but it got very old, very fast.
Oh well, guess that leaves me out of the geek club.
