You think? From what I've read, it's not like Blair is everybody's favorite right now.

Oh I doubt it. Prezzer has this amazing ability to consitently fuck up in greater ways than this and never get fired.

Your looking at the guy who punched someone in the crowd when he was on the election trail.

Yea, but it would still be funny to see him read the classified, "Hmm, I could be a newspaper delievery person, a garbage man, or I could be a janitor."

Yea. He could go back to waiting tables on cruise ships.

"That's got to sting"? How would it sting Bush? By his own admission, he doesn't read papers.

Well, they do, if you think about it. Howard being an "arselicker" according to Latham, Keating with his numerous jibes, etc...

No way. Prescott is Britain's hardest politician of his generation. He'll probably punch Bush in the face next time he sees him.

This whole story has been taken out of context.

Prescott apparently said that the bush administration was crap in the middle east which is a fair point.

I hope he loses his job soon though. Maybe brown will kick him out. I wonder what his next job will be.

Prescott won't go because grass root labour supporters agree with him. To be fair considering he got through having an affair and having some dodgy dealings over the millenium dome this won't hurt him much. Probably increase his popularity here!

It's almost unheard of in US politics--that sort of talk comes from pundits, not politicians, generally speaking.

Meh, it'll just make Prescott more popular. He's already got the "just a normal bloke from the north" reputation, and that's why people like him. This won't harm him at all.

One Labour politician described it as "an honest and good point, well made".

From the Lib Dems..."John Prescott does not always use the most appropriate language, but if these reports are to be believed then his instincts on the Middle East are certainly preferable to Tony Blair's."

Dontcha just love British politics?

There are times I would really love our politicians to be as blunt and nasty as British politicians are. It would be a beautiful thing to hear the chamber hiss when a Senator or Congressperson lies from the podium while giving a speech. It would be even more beautiful if we could make the President come before Congress occasionally for a US version of PMQ. Can you imagine Dubya after one of those? He'd be limping.

You need to rebuild the House and the Senate in House of Commons style. Adversarial. Allows for both sides shouting and clammoring at each other across the chamber....truly a beautiful thing.

The way your chambers are laid out, there's not so much opportunity for the two sides to really have a go at each other.

PMQs doesn't affect public opinion so much (unless one side is clearly imcompetent in the debate, then they get lampooned), because both leaders are generally good speakers (they have to be to get anywhere in the Commons), but my god they're fun.

Pretty much 70% of the senate would be in trouble, from dimwit Biden to Ted 'tubes' Stevens.

Would that be a bad thing? :D

I remember a Jon Stewart standup bit from about '98--he was talking about presidential candidates, but it could really apply to any politician. He said "politicians always want to come off as the regular guy, just like us. But we want someone better than us. We were swept away by the Macarena, for fuck's sake."

Nah, he'd sit it out, or have a family member make a connection in Alabama so he didn't have to look to humiliated for not making two physical appointments and having to sit out his last year in the guard not flying.
He'd just move the war so he wouldn't have to fight.
