Imagine an Ideal World

Where a magical blue pixie shakes ground up fairies over the earth one night. Or whatever. The effect being that all government/economic styles work as they're supposed to. Dictators have the people's best interests at heart, the government of communist countries withers away, etc. Now, what government type would you like to live in in this ideal world?

In an ideal world we would not need any ... but that is unrealistic for todays world

None. :) In an ideal world, we wouldn't need government. :)

Fine. Let me rephrase that.

Imagine a world where all government/economic systems work as they're supposed to.

Better?

*of course, you could just pick Anarchy, but where''s the fun in that?*

Exactly if nothing would harm us and we all had what we needed why would you voulentarily submit to someone elses will?

I don't suppose it would matter too much if they all work out ideally. Probably Theocracy, since ideally it means that there is a God, that he does have my best interests in mind, and I might get 72 virgins or something.

Minimalistic ... very libertarian version of what the US already has

Obviously you've never seen anarchy in action. :)

I would choose to live in a centrist technocracy.

Sleep, citizens. The white heat of science watches over you and meets your every need... :)

Oh, I'm sure there's fun in anarchy, but no fun in picking it.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Yeah... that'd be about right.

meritocracy with absolute equality of opportunity. there would need to be a government to enable that. plus welfare and other socialist stuffy-stuff :)

though i third the "in an ideal world there'd be no govt" thing, of course

In my ideal world we would live in a Voluntary Government/Anarchy situation. Where everyone minded their own business and people could do whatever they pleased without someone in authority telling you what's right and wrong. No one would be in charge, or if they prefer, people could form their own independent communities.

The only national law would be "Do no harm".

A hippie's paradise I know...

What's it got to do with hippies? Isn't that just the way things are *supposed* to be?

In an ideal world, we wouldn't exist.

Speak for yourself. An ideal world would be populated with nothing but clones of me. I can't wait to get my hands on cloning technology so I can begin a new era in the history of the world: The Age of Homo Cluichus!

If by "ideal world" you mean "twisted hell", then yes. :p

It would be a peaceful Socialist government, with a focus on equality and stopping crime and poverty through education.

More importantly, I would be Eliza Doolittle...and everyone would bake me fabulous cakes.
