did you see the episode of the simpsons where Barney had to be the designated driver? That was so sad. I wanted to cry for him.

No, not a party at all. I feel for anyone who gets a DUI. Having one on your record .. even the lowest level where it's the only one and no accident or injury etc happened is/can be worse than having been in prison for murder.. literally.

Not sure if you got arrested or what.. if so ..fight it or throw yourself at the mercy of the court. If you lose and it's your only one go for an Expungement or something.

One of my friends got done for drink driving a couple of weeks ago.

He'd been drinking the night before, stayed at a friends and drove home the next morning.

Turns out he was 0.1 over the limit. He'd done the whole 2 hours for a pint thing, convinced he was well under, but it turned out he was slightly over...he'd hardly eaten anything in the 24 hours before.

Pretty harsh, I think. He'd taken every precaution; drank water, stayed at a friends, waited until the next morning. Yet he still gets banned for a year and has that on his record.

Drinking and driving is pathetic and stupid. If you do it you deserve not only to hurt yourself but to be caught in the process. You always see horrific car wrecks when drunks hit families going home from a restaurant and some little 6 year old is dead and the drunk has a bump on his head or a bruised arm. Any crimes committed while under the influence, whether it is drugs or alcohol should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and one category up! I'm sick of seeing drunks get 90 day sentences on manslaughter charges. He should get life or the death penalty for homicide!

Yea, that sucks. That could happen to anyone really.

I don't have a license, but I'll take rides from friends, even if they're drunk.

your lucky, must of been some years back, many states are uping the punishment. some states have even gone as far as x amount of days in jail for even the first offense.

a friend of mine recently got a DUI, first offense, lost his liscense for a year and 6 months of diversion. he was able to get himself out of having to do community service.

i do not promote driving under the influence. but i do think some punishments are a bit too much

Why not? Worst case, I get into an accident, am horribly mangled, and have to finish the job myself. Even if the driver's not drunk, I could still be killed in a car accident. Since we're mostly driving at midnight or later, it's not like we're gonna hit a little kid or anything.

You say that now, but wait until you are horribly mangled. I bet you'll be like the guy in my neighborhood who put himself in a wheelchair with DWI. All he does is generally act like a bitter fuck who thinks that life owes his pathetic crippled existence a living.

currently, the legal limit for me is .02...so yes, I've driven over that even if I've only had a beer.

The limit for a DUI in Sweden is 0.2 ‰. That's 0.02 % for you decimally challenged out there. That makes it quite difficult to drive "within the limit." Something I would never do, no matter what the cut-off is.

not to sound harsh..but it is basically...fuck you..pay me!

disclaimer:i do not condone drunk driving as i have kids, and have a bit of compassion for my fellow man/woman...but puhleeze...most dui's are about money for the town and state, nothing more.

i got one and i wasn't even in the fucking car..cost me 1000.00 plus the lawyer..plus the surcharge..plus the impound fee..plus the
community service(i got my money back there..lol)

mostly it is a revenue trap for the state/town..or they lose state highway funds...trust me on that.

they could give 2 shits about the real issue...it is a revenue generator under the guise of public safety...

again...i do not condone drunk driving...but i dont condone getting fucked for 2 glasses of wine at dinner if you dont know the local cops,or are a leo,or connected to the fraternity known as the crimminal justice system.

big fucking money in dui....ask your insurance agent..lol...always follow the money.

You've got no option for, "I don't drive."

I've never driven while under the influence, but I have been a passenger in a car with a driver who was under the influence. On more than one occasion, actually. That's near the top of my list of "Deeply Stupid Things I Wish I Had Not Done."

I have in the past driven over the legal limit. I've been caught once. I don't do it anymore. It's too expensive and being without a legal license is a serious penalty. It interferes with everything.

Still, .08 is a ridiculously low BAC. The law should be changed and the limit raised back up to .10 BAC.
