I transposed Yemen and Oman - otherwise I got the rest correct.

Have a go!

I placed Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan the rest was correct...

I was not sure about the other stans north east from Iran either, yet the educated guess proved correct...;)

I didn't do too badly, but still more than a few mistakes.. However if I wanted to wipe out a country with nuclear weapons, collateral damage would certainly have hit my target. ;)

Western Sahara got me. I guess it was all morocco when I was in school

Baharain was fiddly as well, b/c my monitor is too small to make it out well, so I had to guess sort of.

Oooh... that was fun. I was clueless when I first looked at it (except for knowing where Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are), but now I can do all of 'em. It helps to create weird and perverted mnemonic devices. :p

Hmm lets just say I won't be boasting about that :s

(I didn't even know some of these countries existed)

I was ok with Libya across to Iran but the rest was a pure guess :p (and Western Sahara threw me completely :s)

Apart from confusing Kazhakstan and Kyrgystan it was pretty easy.

I did almost perfect, but I can't even find a blank spot for Bahrain.

It doesn't give you a score!
That sucks.

A couple fo years ago, I found a site where you could play a game of guessing where a city is in the world. You'd get points depending on how fast and how close you were. Best of all, you could play against someone.

edit: found it:
http://www.geosense.net/

Just played, and got 5819 points. I was lucky and got within 40km of Jerusaleum and 80km of Guangzhou (as I live only a couple of hundred kms from it, not surprising).
Very mindlessly addictive game.

A set of quizzes for those foreigners who think they know the US:
http://www.historyteacher.net/USQuizMainPage.htm

And a set for non-Europeans who think they know something about Europe

http://www.historyteacher.net/EuroProjects/ExamReviewSheets/MatchingQuizzesForFinalReview-2001/FinalReviewQuizzesForAPEuro-2001.htm

The questions in each don't seem particularly difficult to me, but you might want to look.

A lot of questions, none particularly difficult, but worth looking at.

I wish there was a way to get us all to take all the quizzes, and then see how various people do.
