Pink Floyd fans: Your opinion is ACTUALLY wanted!

I have only relatively recently been introduced to Pink Floyd in general, however I have had Dark Side Of The Moon for quite some time. I always liked it, and still do, but there is very little doubt left to me now that, compared with other Pink Floyd albums, it is overrated.

I personally think overall, The Final Cut is their best album... well, that I've listened to so far. Relics is a close second, and has the best individual songs (Bike, anyone?), with The Wall being a very competitive third.

My question to you is this: What do YOU think is the greatest Pink Floyd song/album? Why? Do you hate me and everything I stand for?

Go nuts.

I like the Division Bell, and PULSE is a good collection of songs :)

Favourite songs are: High hopes, When the tigers broke free, Have a cigar, Wish you were here, Shine on you crazy diamond, Hey You, Terminal Frost, The Great Gig in the sky...

Uh, I could go on for a long time, so I'd better stop now :p

That's a good list, no doubt about it. I must look up PULSE one of these days.

First, Pink Floyd is my fav band of all time! In my opinion they have no bad tunes. I'm a huge fan of "The Final Cut" album. But my fav song by Floyd of all time has to be "Wish You Were Here"

You can never go wrong with Pink Floyd! ;)

Personally, I happen to be partial to early Pink Floyd, with Piper At The Gates of Dawn being on the top of my list. As far as favorite song goes, I think I'm switching to "Run Like Hell", mostly from hearing/seeing it performed live once.

I wish I could see that live. In fact, there are a lot of bands I wish I could see live. Curse my being born three decades (or more) early!

I like Wish you were here, myself...

Call me main stream, but so far I really do like DSOTM and WYWH. I'm not so keen on the stuff after The Wall. In fact, half of The Wall wasn't too good either, but still.

Favorite Album - The Wall
Favorite Song - Learning To Fly (A Momentary Lapse of Reason)

I haven't heard 'The Final Cut' yet but I understand it's a continuation of 'The Wall' and the last album Roger Waters performed on. I'll get around to checking it out one of these days!

The Final Cut was really the culmination of Waters' work with Floyd and by far their best album with him as frontman. "Two Suns in the Sunset" and the title track are outstanding.

Favorite album: Wish You Were Here, followed closely by Piper at the Gates of Dawn (*lights a candle and says a prayer for Syd's soul*)
Favorite song: Hey You. It's actually the song that got me into the band. I love it.

I dunno why people rag on the Wall so much. It's not their best stuff, but that's like saying Beethoven's 5th isn't his best stuff, either. It's still great.

For me, it is a toss up between Animals and Meddle.

Favorite Album?
I'm a great fan of DSOTM, but its not my favorite album. My favorite song off of that has to be Money or Time though.

All time favorite album? Hrm...I'd say...no, can't pick.

Favorite song is either Wish You Were Here, or Hey You.

Wish You Were Here was my first Pink Floyd album, I bought it at Camelot Music in fifth grade, and I've listened to it more times than I can even begin to count. It remains my absolute favorite album, with the song of the same name being my absolute favorite Pink Floyd song. It relaxes and invigorates me at the exact same time. Great, great song. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all of 'em) are also amongst my favorites. I agree that Bike is an excellent song, but in my book it doesn't quite compare, and in my opinion, The Wall is horrendously overrated.

:)

I'm glad everyone loves Pink, this band's music was playing during the best times in my life, only being surpassed by the Beatles in semtimental value to me, not mentiontioning the music itself.

Meddle is the best, I think, didn't like Division Bell so much...

My personal favorite is "Wish You Were Here", with "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" from that same album as best song.

But there is almost no such thing as a bad Pink Floyd song OR album. We're just talking varying degrees of excellence here.

Nice.

But you forgot "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" or "One Of These Days (I'm Going To Cut You Into Little Pieces)"
