Final Fantasy 7 is awesome. Been trying to replay it lately but getting nowhere. Used an emulator fo play the Playstation version but it broke during a cutscene at rocket town. So I got the PC version and re did that 24 hours and the that broke during a different cutscene at rocket town, not ten minutes after the other one. Now Il have to buy a playstation and play through the whole lot again.
Armadillo run is also ace.

My favorite game was probably the original Civilization, when I played it on a local network versus 12 or so other people our 8th grade class.. pretty fun.
Also, the original Lemmings and the original Worms. I kinda like turn-based strategy games. For real-time, my favorite is probaby Starcraft, although I don't play it anymore.
The GTA games are pretty fun too, for console games.

Halo was better for LAN parties but Halo 2 has Xbox live so I say Halo2 for consules. On PC, Age of Kings probably takes the cake, because it had such great online play and a dedicated community on MSN Zone. Hearts of Iron2 and Morrowind are close runners up.
I would have to say SW battlefront 2. My only problem with is that you can't directly control the main guns in the space battles.(Or if you could just fly around the star destroy it would solve all of life's probelems.

Deus Ex (not the invisible war crap or the fake condensed ps2 version, the original pc). In fact, just went and replayed it. The only problem I had was the endings. They didnt seem like things JC would say or do in that situation.
AoE series. First game ever owned that didnt come from the bargain bin. I played on my bleeding fast 56k dialup!
Morrowind pwns Oblivion. I played Morrowind on and off for 2 years while I dropped Oblivion after a few days. Shame, really. Wasted $60!
Splinter Cell series. Sneak Sneak Sneak, Snap your neck, Heat vision! (if I ever had the money, I would buy those goggles: heat/night/electrical vision combo. *drools*)

Can't wait until Assassin's Creed comes out. If they pull it off right, it's going to be a sweet mix of Prince of Persia and Thief.
And the main hero is a Persian Assassin ordered to stop another Crusades from breaking out by any means necessary, including taking out targets on both sides. And he can enlist the aid of the populace to help him with his getway.
Yes, a game where not only a Muslim isn't the usual Western perception of a bearded turban-wearing "Durka Durka Jihad" chanting Taliban Terrorist stereotype, but he's also the main hero. And it'll sell by pissing off Real Americans™ the way GTA pissed off Decent Families™.

Actually, System Shock came out a year before Doom (or was it a month? I was only 4 or 5 at the time...), and it was a VERY deep game. Much scarier, and with a better story than Half Life (better than Deus Ex, IMO, and that's pretty much blasphemy nowadays...). Plus, the voice acting of S.H.O.D.A.N. was fucking creepy, and really, really good...

I've got to go with the cop-out and say that there's no way for me to pick an over-all favorite. Certain games are my favorites in particular categories, or are my favorites when I'm in certain moods, but I couldn't pick one that is my ultimate favorite.
The game that is most likely to cheer me up when I'm in a lousy mood is MarioKart, the Double Dash one for GameCube.
The game that is most likely to relax me when I am stressed out is SSX3, on the PS2.
The console series that I feel has given me the most bang for my buck is the Final Fantasy series.
The PC series that has given me the best bang for my buck is the Sim series (including SimCity, etc).
The PC game that I wish I still played most is Starcraft. Zerling rush, ftw.
The best guilty-pleasure game used to be City of Heroes, but then the nerf bombs ruined it. Now my favorite guilty pleasure is World of Warcraft, despite all the elves and dragons and magic bullshit.
The best game of my childhood was Oregon trail, because who doesn't love to see their friends and family die of typhus?

Yeah, I got it expecting great things. Character generation is excellent, but actually playing the game? Too complicated and annoying.
ah, I never got into the star wars RPGS, they all seemed too complicated and annoying...

Well I've been playing pc games as long as there have been pc's (heck I even played Pong when it was released. Yes, I'm old).
The Civilization games have always been top notch. Great replayability. Diablo was fun. Starcraft you could play again and again (although I never really got into Warcraft at all).
For first person shooters I've always felt that Half-Life gave the best bang for the buck. Great graphics, and a really engaging storyline as well. I also think the Call of Duty series has a lot to offer.
As for MMPORGs I started off with EverQuest, which I played for 5 years. CoH and GuildWars were fun but didn't have any real long term playability. Dark Age of Camelot is still in the dark ages graphics wise, which hurts it. World of Warcraft has some of the best graphics going MMPORG wise and it's huge advantage is it's quest system, which allows you to get on and accomplish something by yourself in a relatively short period of time, unlike games like EQ where you could spend an hour just looking for a group to get started on something.
Of course we all have our individual tastes and what seems great to one seems stupid to another. For instance I've never enjoyed the Final Fantasy series. I played 7, which was supposed to be the best of the lot and hated it. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Thief, which others have disliked.
Currently I'm switchng between Oblivion and CoH/CoV, which I just came back to recently. A great game for the short term, but I'm already starting to get bored again. Hoping that Lord of the Rings Online (in beta now) will turn out better than Dungeons and Dragons Online did (what a disappointment).
Oh, the Sims is also an interesting diversion from time to time.
Oh, and I also wanted to mention Star Wars, Knights of the Old Republic. Cool series there. And the Temple of Elemental Evil - a D&D game, which I thought brought the whole Baldur's Gate type overhead RPG to a new level.

I love Age of Empires, but I got two a couple years ago. I'd say it's a better game. I haven't had a go at three yet. Have you?

hell i still play the atari games from time to time.
but my favorites have to be Galatic Battlegrounds, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron, Rebel Assault, (the star wars FPS, cant remember the name of it), Super Star Wars Series, and I did enjoy Lego Star Wars
worse star wars game is definitely Masters of the Teras Ksai (sp?)
I haven't heard that name in a long, long time...
