Canada beat US to reach World Cup

Canada booked their place at the 2007 Rugby World Cup with an emphatic 56-7 victory over neighbouring USA. It was the Canadians' biggest win against the Eagles, winger James Pritchard scoring 36 points himself to break the national team record of 29.

Pritchard scored three of Canada's seven tries, kicked six conversions and three penalties.

"I couldn't be happier for the players at times we played some excellent rugby," said Canada coach Ric Suggitt.

"We have to continue to improve because when we go to play Wales and Italy in November, we'll have to be even better than this. The next level is a huge jump."

The United States of America now face a two-leg play-off against Uruguay for the last Americas spot in next year's showcase finals in France.

Uruguay will host the first leg in Montevideo on 30 September and the return match will take place on 7 October in Stanford, California.

I'm still not convinced about the Italians in the 5/6 Nations though...

Still Canada have been getting better....obviously they have no chance of winning the World Cup but I hope they make a good show of it....like trashing the Kiwi's for example :)

I'm just waiting for the final repechage place to be decided. One of the repechage teams will be Tonga, and the other one gets to go in New Zealands pool. It will be the 20th best team in the world, vs the All Blacks.

Pools:

POOL A

England
South Africa
Samoa
Americas 3
Repechage 2 (Tonga probably)

POOL B
Australia
Wales
Fiji
Canada
Asia 1

POOL C
New Zealand
Scotland
Europe 1 (Italy probably)
Europe 2
Repechage 1

POOL D
France
Ireland
Argentina
Europe 3

They've made 3 finals and fucked them all up. That's more finals than New Zealand's made..

Actually, 2 seconds after I posted I realised that it was 2 - '87 and '99. Thats the same number as the ABs, but meh.

Actually, Canada plays football too, they just play it on a larger field (by 20 yards) and have one or two variations, but it's essentially the same sport. Close enough for college teams to play each other in exhibition matches. Your ignorance is truly astounding. So we don't like rugby? Well, fuck rugby! We (in this case, US and Canada) don't have to like something because the rest of the world does! Baseball kicks ass, hockey kicks ass, football certainly kicks ass. Rugby? Yawn. And don't even get me started on how lame soccer is. Just like Argentina really. Strange that it's the NH thats doing more to help the Argies isn't it. (Theres a sizable lobby trying to get Arentina in the 6N, playing at San Sebastian (spain). Romanias being helped as well and they should be playing in the PArker Pen Sheild next year, English clubs have adopted a 'mentoring' scheme in which the English help get a professional league set up there in return for a few players.

Yeah, well NZ has a policy of NZ players only, Australia is trying to develop a bigger talent pool, and the jarps have enough problems with their 'non existent quota system'.

The new Air New Zealand Cup is rather rank but a few foriegners are getting a go at it, one being Bosche from Argentina playing for Manawatu.

Jarps? Do you mean the Japanise? well as far as I know there technicaclly in the NH, and a mentoring schemes going on between them and the tigers.

Arn't you all getting a bit baord with the Tri-Nations now, you know playing the same 2 teams 3 times? Why not cut it down to 2 games against each team and add Argentina, and in the Super 14, expand it to a Super 16, Get rid of the Southern Spears idea in SA (How many teams do they need?) and add a PAcific islands and a Argentinian team.

No, I haven't looked at my president latly, but lately he's been a dipshit. That could be why I didn't vote for him in this republic of ours (the real reason is that I was too young at the time; born 6 months too late). But speaking of "leaders", last I checked you have an unelected hereditary sovereign and a leader selected by the most popular party instead of a leader chosen by the people through their political divisions (the States here). How's your current selected-by-the-ruling-party leader? Still catering to Bush's every fart and fancy? Well that's super. Too bad you can't have a PM with enough of a spine to defend your nation's sovereignty against the whims of another nation's inept leader. Well, at least you can just not elect him leader. Oh wait, you have a pariament! Well, you better hope that enough of his party isn't reelected so he'll won't return as PM. How did that go last time, by the way?

And out unelected monacy isn't exactly popular with me either, nor is Blair. however he dosn't seem to fo everything Bush says like you claim. he has got some free will left...

And Labour has done some remarkable thigns for our welfair state and our econermy, over 8 years of concecutive growth, other than a rediculas foreign policy he's done very well at home after taking voer from the mess the Conservatives left after the days of thatcher and Major.

The other rgeat thing is that blair is going to step down soon, and the guy who started all these good schemes that are boosting our econermy is stepping up.

Mate, your talking to deaf ears here-I'm a Forest season ticket holder so you won't catch me hating football, though admittedly I prefer rugby these days. If you udnerstand the game then it's enthralling and facinating to watch, if you don't I can see why you'd hate it. After all I find Baseball incredably boring and thats probably coz I don't udnerstand it, needless to say I'd preferto watch a cricket match any day-another sport you probably don't udnerstand and find boring.

On the 6N front, I'd prefer to set up a league of 10 European teams that play a 'double league system' with premotion and relegation, 5 in the top teir 5 in the bottom, ATM the teirs would go:

France
England
Ireland
Wales
Scotland

T2

Romania

Portugal
Holland

and the you could interface that one with the European Nations Cup. It would also allow the argies to be accomidated more easly.

"But the rest of the world likes it" Yeah, all that means is that US and Canada are the only countries who are smart enough to realize that soccer is less exciting than watching flies fuck.
Well yes, of course.

Because we all know how exciting it is to watch game that has a 5 minute break every 20 seconds for everyone to get back into position, complete different teams to come on (including one whole different team that comes on just to kick a ball and then leave the field again) cause for some reason running into an opposing player is completely different if their team has the ball, not yours, and the game takes ~4 hours from start to finish, during which there's just 60 minutes (48 in college) actual on-field play.

Guess the rest of the world just isn't evolved enough to see the excitement in spending 1/2 a day to watch fat guys spending an hour running into each other.

I live in Yorkshrie, so I know a few leeds fans, can';t see you doing that well after your display against us in the Pre-Season freindly. What it all really proves is that you should have stuck with cloughie when you had him.

We had a good team, but if you look at our last 3 managers: (Kennier (idiot, who thought that Clougie wasn't 'that good a manager' and said all Forest fans 'knew nothing about football), Megson (Nuff said) and Hart (We worked our socks off) you can see why we are wehre we are.

Anyway, the only problem with the teiring thing is that the team that goes down will lose a lot of revenue. But if 6N revenue/TV money was collected by the ERB then they could distribute it equally between all 10 clubs.

Linking it up with a smaller ENC (which is played over 2 years) emans that teams like Belgium will get a chance once they get up.)

Satire? Man, have you ever fucking seen soccer? I was being honest. It is seriously the single most boring sport on earth. The fact that ESPN made us sit through that bullshit World Cup when there were perfectly good baseball games being played unwatched is ludicrous. I can't understand how you can watch that without resorting to gouging out your eyes. I would honestly prefer to watch "The Mating Habits of the Common House Fly" on PBS, essentially 60 minutes of flies fucking than watch a full 90-minute game of soccer.
You should be playing Cricket!
