Im a little worried.

Today, my mom was rubbing my hair(my favourite past time) when she stopped and gasped really loud. She then blurts out, you have skin cancer. I stood up really fast in shock. She told me i have a black spot on my head. At first i thought maybe a bruise, a mole, or a freckle. Well I just looked at it now, and it doesn't look like any of them. It is located o my upper left hand side of my face, just in the hair line, near my temple(temporal something another). Bad thing is, my great grandmother had skin cancer, and died from it, and it started in her hair first. Now my question is, how credible is it that this is indeed some sort of Cancerous growth? Next question(stupid one to ask) Should I honestly waste money to go see a Dr. about this?

Im worried, because starting a few weeks I have had a reoccurring dream that i died from cancer. :(

k...so you think you might have cancer, and you aren't sure if you should see a doctor. Read that out loud a few times. If it sounds...well....stupid (and it should), then the answer is yes, go see a doctor.

skin cancer will generally look like a mole, but asymetrical. Either way, if you have health concerns, ask a doc.

usually, in the case of cancer, the only way one could be sure would be to actually see it and run tests...not something that translates well via internet

God, you live in a nation that can spend most countries entire budget on a war about oil, and you have to pay to go to visit a Dr. Dear god, what is wrong with that picture?

Get a decent government man! get a national health service and fund it from the military budget.

Good luck at the Drs by the way, I am sure it will be fine. :fluffle:

if you can afford to,go to the doctor.

i have the same damn thing on my right temple, right at the hairline.
3 years ago,it was about the size of a big freckle,or mole...now it is about the size of a dime.
i scratch it at times,it bleeds a bit, then it seems to get smaller or a different color..i ignore it..then it seems to get bigger, same old cycle.
does yours exhibit this odd behaviour?

as an uninsured, single parent of 2(1 in college and 1 in army bootcamp)i also am loathe to spend money on a doctor, mostly because i am afraid to hear..yea it's cancer, but for only 1000.00 dollars we can remove it and it's over.
but..but..i dont have 1000.00,well come back when you get it.
then i'll be walking around knowing i got a treatable issue, but cause i'm poor,it is gonna get worse and kill me.
then my attitude will become very shitty to rich people and they dont deserve that..hell,i wish i was rich.

i hope you go to the doctor though, and please post what the doctor determines,as with you,my mom died from cancer and had a spot in the exact spot as me,like you said.

weird you should post this,as i had a friend tell me the other day to go to the doc's,and i have been ignoring this for some time now.

it sounds shitty, but i am actually thinking of going to the er,and falsely claiming i am getting terrible pains in my head and"gee..could it be this"
my credit is ruined from a divorce,so i could care less about the giant ass bill i will get from them.
i paid the er,3000 grand last year for my broken foot,(which emptied my savings account)then found out..i could just ignore it like all the illegals do(not an illegal rant...just saying the girl at the hospital told me i should have lied and gave them a false name in latin, and a bogus s.s.# and the taxpayers would foot the bill)
it sounds shitty, but i may just do that, hell i been paying taxes for 20 years...
and i also think it is disgraceful that low income people have to lie or die to recieve basic medical help...yet our elected royalty get the best care in the world, for free, for life...and make huge incomes!

we need some type of basic medical services for everyone in this country..and trust me,i am no socialist..very far from it..but people like you and me,should not have to decide to either eat or get screened for cancer.
whilst the elite dont even pay..hell they are insured with MY taxdollars..

go to the doctor if you can afford it my friend.

... even if it is generally correct.

You should go to the doctor, Zilam. The fact that you might have to pay for it is a damning testament of your government, but should not be a factor you have to bear in mind when seeking professional assistance with medical matters.

See a doctor. If you have any concerns at all, see a doctor. Your mother is probably a wonderful person, intelligent, caring and all that, but she cannot diagnose cancer unless she is a medical doctor. For the sake of her nerves and yours, see the bloody doctor.

Im worried, because starting a few weeks I have had a reoccurring dream that i died from cancer. :(

1. Recurring dreams usually mean something

2. A recurring dream combined with something related to the dream usually means the dream is a true vision of the future (you scientific people out there can call it "instinct" if it makes you feel better)

3. Skin cancer can be treated if caught early. You didn't have a vision for no reason. GO TO THE DOCTOR. Don't risk dying.

P.S. To save money maybe you can pretend to be a British Citizen, go to Britain, get the NHS (National Health Service) to treat you for free, then go back to your own country. By the time they've realised you've lied, they'll have to mess about dealing with the US authorities to get you to pay, plus they'll likely just leave it as they're such nice sympathetic people (the NHS) who don't want you dead.

P.P.S. About the hair-soothing, it really does feel nice. I'm a bloke and a guy was stroking me head once as I was sat down and had just had it cut. Didn't feel sexual or weird, just felt nice.

Am i right in saying skin cancer is quite easy to treat if caught in the early stages?

Edit: anyway the important thing is not to worry, there is so many millions of other things it could be. My sister has a mole the size of a dice on her back, but it isn't cancerous.

You should definately see a doctor though, just in case.

This may come as a shock, but, if you're paying between 15 and 30% of your income to the government for 'free' healthcare.. it isn't free.

Anyway, I agree with basically everyone that the OP see a doctor.

Probably America. You know we do have to PAY for our medical care here (unless you go to the emergency room and give a fake name and address so they can't bill you later).
