So would you tell people? huh? would you really?

OK, imagine that this evening you see a UFO, a real live flying saucer, and while you are watching it lands, and out jumps a little green man (or whatever) and comes and has a bit of a chat with you about some crap or other and then gets back into his ship and clears off......

OR

You awake to find an angel sitting on your bed who tells you that YOU are the son/daughter of God

OR

You see a ghost

You get the idea...You see something that if you heard someone else tell you about, you would nod and smile and think that they had lost the plot...would YOU tell people, and not just your friends, but would you alert the media and face the inevitable ridicule?

Hell, I don't believe half of what I see myself, so why would I tell anyone else?

And my imaginary friends agree with me.

Just saw the movie "The Descent" last night, and I had the same problem with it that I have with most horror/slasher movies.

1. At the end of the movie you (the protagonist) are covered in blood.
2. All of your friends are either unexplicably missing or turned into gibs.
3. Their last known destination was somewhere with you.
4. Massive property damage is also associated with all of this.

Even if you don't tell someone, someone is going to be asking questions.

It's as if someone actually committed the crime, but has you completely framed.

Daughter of god, noway would I tell look what happened to Jesus I'd just to a Bruce Almighty to 'I got the power'

I've seen a UFO shape shift and then fly into a vortex that opened up for it and closed behind it.

I told everyone about it then and I'd do it today.

I've also experienced ghostly activity and told people.

Of course the question is always asked "what were you on?"

I have heard ghosts and felt their presence. See, now I've told the world.

Seriously, in the Cathedral in Segovia, Spain. One corner was very chilly and we heard monks canting. No monks were in the main part of the Cathedral or the chapel near us. We later found out some monks had been killed by a bomb during the Spanish civil war in that part of the Cathedral. Both my wife and I felt and heard it.

I would start small... circle of friends, family, things like that.

if I was the Son of God, I would have abilities would I not? like Healing, speaking in tongues, so forth... so, a miracle here, a healing there... small stuff and slowly, build up.

with modern forensics, it would be known who's blood was on who, and depending on what was said, it can be determined that it was just a horrible spelunking accident (didn't see the movie... yet.)

Hurrah people are admitting to seeing ghosts. I didn't cos I am quite selective about it but as no one on NS actually knows me.....

Well I've since I was a child I have always been sensitive to that kind of thing. Apparently it runs on my Moms side. I have to admit I was skeptical but unexplainable stuff has happened to family members like 5 of them waking up at the same time knowing their sister in law had been killed in a car crash. AnywayI used to practise Chi Kung, which is what the Shoalin Monks do to draw up their energy etc. Anyway it made me extremely senstive to well I suppose the elements around me and hence I was a beacon point (or so I have been told) for Spirts. I stopped doing it before xmas cos I had one encounter too many and my Chi Kung instructors advice was to ignore what kept seeing and feeling, which is hard when what your experiencing ishas an evil vibe to it.

I feel soo much less of a freak now that I have shared!

I have seen a UFO type thingy, that I still can't explain, and I tell people and they say one of two things

"freaky"

or

"was this before or after you stopped smoking crack?"

I have also lived in a "haunted" house and even though I don't believe in ghosts some pretty weird stuff happened and I chalk that up to either my brain being improperly wired (which doesn't really work since other people independently saw/heard things too) or some type of electo-magnetic thingy-ma-bob.

That happens a lot. People seem ot have a connection with each other so when someone they cares about dies or get seriously injured they sense somethings wrong.

I don't think I could see UFOs or angels or ghosts because such things are not within my paradigm. The first time I experienced an earthquake, I did not experience an earthquake: I experienced disorientation and balance problems. It was only later after talking to a few people that I knew to call it an earthquake, simply because it wasn't in my line of thinking that the ground could move.

Or even when no-one's hurt, but then it's ignored. Confirmation bias means that we only pay attention to these occurences when someone really dies.

Why? Why shouldn't we constantly move up in knowledge of the world, approaching a singularity?

Besides, UFO is an explanation, just a dumb one.

Could it not've been an escapee? Many people keep exotics nowadays and lots get dumped/escape, hence the so-called presence of "Puma's" in the UK countryside which have been reported on a number of occasions but not yet proved.

Most people use UFO to mean more than its literal meaning.

Someone says they saw a UFO, means they think it was some kind of spacecraft usually. That's an explanation, if an incorrect one.

UFO literally is a bit of explanation too, as it assumes it was an object.

To me that's believable, though I know not of the location. Seeing a monkey's one thing (we all know monkey's exist), but seeing ghosts and angels etc. aren't exactly credible to most as there's no proof of existance hence people will think you're COMPLETLY nuts.

'k. You're right. A monkey is not supernatural, they do indeed exist as you said. So there is always a plausible - albeit improbable -explaination for it.

I really offered the story more to point out that some people are prepared to testify to the impossible despite what other's believe. But I admit it's not quiet the same.
