Just now, I went from comic books, to Brandon Lee, to Jackie Chan, to Game Boy, to Harry Potter, to Broadmoor Hospital for the criminally insane, to some crazy non-talking twins.

I do that every once in a while. I usually circle around a single topic though, and read up everything about it (although I do sometimes stray very far from that). Last time, I started out reading about Habeas Corpus and ended up reading most articles available on human rights and international law on warfare.

Just now, I went from comic books, to Brandon Lee, to Jackie Chan, to Game Boy, to Harry Potter, to Broadmoor Hospital for the criminally insane, to some crazy non-talking twins.
After looking up logical fallacies on Wikipedia yesterday, I went through this chain of articles:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_fallacy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignoratio_elenchi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca_Defense
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coup_de_gr%C3%A2ce
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypercorrection
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vichysoisse

I then added pronunciation information to that page. I also branched off in severl directions, with Chewbacca Defence also leading to this more interesting chain:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewbacca_Defense
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror

Spooky coincidece: when trying to work out my path through the pages just now I used the 'what links here' feature, and the third result for the Chewbacca Defense was Talk:My_Neighbor_Totoro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:My_Neighbor_Totoro), which I happened to have read just the day before having just seen the film. Obviously every facet of my life is in some strange way connected to the Chewbacca Defence. Or not.

Going on long Wikipedia sojourns reminds me that there is something to be said for living in this day and age.

I just read about star trek series and episodes on wiki and find out some cool trivia. Was watching I Borg on sky...I thought I heard Hugh saying I am hugh before attaining individuality in the first quarter hour which would constitute a major inconsistency. And TOS today, good god the special effects were even worse than normal, yknow where kirk and co are trapped in the dungeon. The aliens at the end...you could see the strings that were attached to them. no effort made to conceal them. good god!

I usually end up at the page for Phantom of the Opera, no matter where I start.

Wikipedia raids are fun. Sometimes I start with something I wanted to look up, and then I just go on and on (using my time without actually wanting to). And sometimes I just want a good read and use the "random page" link until an interesting article pops up.

Today someone was screwing with the Caroline Island page, and replaced the flora and fauna section with holy fucking shiut. It got changed back pretty quick though.

That's a little bit scary.

I know. But I try. It's usually something like this:

some page that has to do with laws>kidnapping>Stockholm syndrome>Phantom of the Opera

We should have a competition, with one starter word, and a one hour time limit.

I think the weirdest and most disgusting Wiki adventure I ever had was the time I got from Stanley Kubrick to Shotacon.

I can't remember how I did it, either...

Ooh, good idea! But would you have to track the trip? or just say what you ended up with?

Hmm, actually maybe there should be a starter word and a completely random goal word - and whoever can get from one to the other in as few steps as possible by only using the links inside the articles wins.

I dunno, it might be easy to cheat. But easier to do as well.

I once swapped the content of the Mitosis and Meiosis articles... it took them the best part of a day to notice. Now that's fundalism!!!

If I'm real bored I'll sometimes follow the first unvisited link in every page. Fun fact: you will end up on the page for the English Language within 12 moves tops.. always!

Well you'd have to document it, of course! As in, backtrack through the steps and spell them out for all to see.
