Ahhhhhhhh Why?

Why whenever I see a topic I want to post in, I look and it's like 15 pages long and my opinion on the matter is completely irrelevant to where the topic had lead. It pisses me off! Sometimes I don't even pay attention and make a post then look and i'm on like page 12 and completely off topic so I look like a nubcake. Does this happen to other people alot too?

EVERY SINGLE DAY! And the same mile-long topics are there for hours. New topics are sparingly started, and nobody posts on the ones I try to start.

*psst - admitting to that only exposes you to NSG's ridicule, so hush and post anyway! ;)*

It's kind of like anything else. People want to hear what interests them, and in a forum setting, what the majority finds interesting advances. Obviously today people are finding discussions of 70's rock music and women by ethnicity to be more interesting than, say, the UN's ceasefire resolution.

NS General rule of thumb: if the thread is more than 6 pages long, chances are that it has devolved into some sort of spam, an endless discussion between two posters, or that no one will care about your opinion; maybe all three. So I just don't bother looking at those any more.

If you're going to make an on-topic post in an old thread, just quote the OP then everyone will know what you are talking about. You'll most likely get ignored though, and your post will be buried in spam.

Hehe...nubcake. :)

The fitting way to acknowledge the OP is to make enough replies that this thread reaches 15 pages... so, let's begin! :p

I swear to God, that was the first thing I thought of when I read the OP...

Meh, threads - like parties - can be successfully crashed at any point.

You just have to want to be heard.

I just ignore any thread with more than five pages unless I'm already part of the discussion.
