Hezbollah. or I guess Hezbo 'Allah might work as well.

why is there no "other" option?

Al Jazeera says both "Hizb Allah (http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/EA171FE1-120C-464F-B2C6-0BD56B581328.htm)" and Hezbollah (http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/09805695-3577-421D-BC35-8FE01E8EAD06.htm).

And since a while back the BBC got to decide what was acceptable English and what wasn't, maybe AJ gets to decide proper Arabic written in English.

I'd spell it Hisbollah in German, Hezbollah in English, and if I knew how to write in Arabic it'd read *حزب الله

It depends on the accent. There's East of Suez and West of Suez in arabic ( oversimplified, but it will do ) .

All those extra u's and i's is an East of Suez thing.

Spell it any way you want. There's no correct way to transliterate arabic for some reason.. even the national newspapers have 46 ways of spelling Kaddafi's name..

I spell it Hizbullah.

OK roughly and concise

Hizbollah, is the party of God (most will know this)

Hizb means party
Allah means God (again both common knowledge I presume)

In Fusha, Classical or Modern Standard Arabic; a conection between a nominative undetermined noun and a determined noun in the genative means:

The... of....

The undetermined nominative of party is Hizbu
God is The God and therefore determined. (a)l-lah

Hizbu-llah is the party of God

Hizb ... (a)llah could also be said if one where to put a pauze between the words. For the nominative -u is only spoken when one does not pause.

Actually, the extra u's and i's are part of the grammar and only spoken in high Arabic; it has nothing to do with the regional dialects. ;)

I personally spell it 'hezbollah' because that was the first spelling I remember seeing and I've been told it more accurately reflects the Lebanese dialect. Similarly I used to spell the Iranian president's name as Ahmadinezhad, because that's what the BBC first called him... but now everyone's pretty much settled on him having a 'j' in his name.
