A Question About Guns

Semiautos have a large ammo capacity and a lower recoil than revolvers of the same calibre.

Unfortunately, not everyone can rack that slide for the first round in.

Why not fire the first round electrically and subsequent rounds by gas blowback?

What are the inherent problems with this design?

Really easy for a kid to use?

1) Most self-loading pistols are already double action (pulling the trigger cocks the weapon).

2) Reliability. A dual ignition system (electrical and mechanical) is going to have twice as many things to go wrong.

3) You seem to be talking about two differnt things from what I can tell - the laoding action and the firing system.

4) If you mean an electrically operated loading system, the mechanical systems are generally more reliable, AFAIK.

I'm just thinking of any way to avoid racking the slide. Is there some way of sleeving in the first round without using brute muscle?

Yes. it's called double-action, and most self-loaders feature it. (See point 1 above.)

Racking the slide, as you put it, isn't that hard. Police members in South Africa are trained to do it with one hand, with their service issue Beretta 92FS service pistols. As for electronic loading, would you really want to go out and buy batteries for your gun? I know I wouldn't... :)
