Kids picked up for stealing 26 million veterans data

That infamous laptop that mysteriously has 26 million veterans data located on it has been found … 2 19 year old kids were behind it.

Veterans can now possibly breath a sigh of relief that the laptop is back into safe hands and they hopefully will be able to track if the actual data is compromised.

Yeah though really depending on the storage format and what “Data” was included really it could be just a couple of gig

why does the government have this data on veterans on hand? (seriously shouldn’t that kind of information be stored on some huge ass computer or even file and forgotten about)

It SHOULD

Ideally no part of that data ever leaves the server actually and is never at any point stored locally in any sort of permanent or semi-permanent format.

Hell that’s how we do it with student information here
