A&f

Does anyone like A&F? I will admit that some of thier Items are nice and I wouldnt mind wearing them. But the store has a trend of selling the wrong messege to their younger preppy groups. If you go on to wikipedia and type in A&F it will give you their article. But A&F has been shown to post racist comments on shirts. And the Magazine did have nude photos of people and showing them involved in Adult actions. They have also interviewed adult stars and gave advice to "do it yourself" and other situations similar to that. Should a store be allowed to send that messege to its customers? Do you agree with A&F actions.

Or is all of this to get more people to buy their stuff? Sounds like a smart move to me. I know lots of people who would go their if they were able to see nude people on posters and on magzs. And dont you think that A&F is selling items as would an adult store would?

Also at my school Most if not all the Preps were A&F. They are getting the messege that if you were A&F you are better and "cooler" then others when they dont relize they are making fools out of them and that they are also looking like hookers and jocks!

How can a store attract teens by posting nude photos in the stores and magzs..
How can it not?
Baguetten

Got a point...But still it doesnt just attract teens it attracks gays also because their is lots of guys either nude or shirtless.

So? Attracting gay people is good.

A store shouldnt be selling it an Adult store should!

Oh, please. I've seen the catalogues and pictures. They are so tame.

By the by, there are gay people in that age group, you know, and I resent what you tried to insinuate.

Why? you have not shown us why

Seems to be fairly standard marketing attracting the target audience mostly … seems that they are doing a good job as a business

Probably, and I've always stayed within the PG-13-whatever, apparently.

Abercrombie & Fitch. You can google their website where you can probably see the pics. Basically just a bunch of guys with their shirts off or bums showing. I've seen "worse" on Swedish children's programming.

I love High School politics...

Each group thinks they are being themselves by conforming to a different stereotype. They then resent each other and think that a "Goth" is somehow different from "Prep" or "Emo" or whatever other clique there is.

Don't worry man, just relax and you'll be out of there in a couple years.

But to an extent people tend to be similar … is it all really surprising?

While less apparent there are “Cliques” for adults too later on in life … they are just bigger and less simplified

Blue collar
White collar

Those that go on to higher education those that don’t … those that are motor cycle enthusiasts vs those that are offroaders vs thoughts that collect things…

The groups get bigger and more complicated but they are there.

I mean, yes. There are clothes that should cost alot. A nice suit...dress shirts...that kinda thing. But jeans? no. Just...no.

as for A&F...its overpriced for the quality, and the style isn't so much what I look for. They do have some decent stuff sometimes tho.

Why do people like their clothes to be an advertisement for the clothing company, anyway? It looks trashy, IMO. If you want to spend $50 on a shirt, buy a nice looking shirt, not a t-shirt that says "A&F [random year]" in bold, and if you're going to advertise anything, advertise things you are interested in.

I don't see any point to spending more than $50 on an entire outfit. I don't know, but it would seem like a waste of money when a simple t-shirt would suffice.

Long ago, before the nude ads even, A&F was the "cool thing" at my jr high. I wanted to be cool. So I convinced my parents to shell out a whoppin $106 for A shirt and A pair of pants. I wore them to school the next day. No change in social status. The shine of enlightenment finally hit me after a week, and I gave up. I'm much better off for the experiance and even got a wonderful woman to marry me because she like's my 'dorkiness'. :D

On a side note: I did get threatened by a 'skater' because he thought I was preppy due to my appearal. It made me happy.

Yep. I usually go out of my way to make sure there is no visible logo on my clothing. Otherwise I may as well be a cow walking around with a brand seared into my ass.

But I do make one exception. I occasionally go to Goodwill and browse their racks for "high end" brands. Then I will wear them anywhere I know status concious people will be. I delight in telling those who ask where I got my A&F (or Ralph Lauren, Guess, CK, etc.), shirt (or slacks or whatever) in a loud voice that I picked it up for $4 at Goodwill. Ruins the image and exclusivity of the brand for them. :p
