What IS this...?

I recently stayed at the Marriott Hotel, and was subjected to the weirdest experience, ever. As usual, I paid in cash, and left a couple hundred for 'incidentals', so I wouldn't have to deal with any nonsense in the morning. However, after room service and my limo was paid for, I was handed twenty-cents change. To which I was forced to retort "What the fuck is this, a mint?". I mean, really? I don't do change. That's why I tip cab drivers so much. That and I'm afraid they are terrorists and I'm using the traditional American policy of bribing the Middle East to behave.

Dude, quit being a snob.

Typical reason why the middle east hates the US and the West so much.

courtiesy. you probably had change for something, perhaps a minibar or something. I would rather they try to give change back then just assume you don't want it.

When that happens, just say "Keep the Change." all in all, most likely it was just a mistake on their part.

The weird thing is, they wouldn't keep it. I kept trying to give it back, but I was forced to take it. I was so hungover it tripped me out

I've had resturants not give me change because, and I quote, "It was less than a dollar."

so $.99 or less is automatically kept because the establishment doesn't think you want it... I told the waitress, "ok, if that's what you wanted for a Tip, fine by me."

and this wasn't some posh resturant either, it was a steakhouse...

Meh, they have to give it to you.

When I was in Russia, you had to ask, they were really reluctant lol

I had to pay a couple hundred for phone bills, and they had to be asked to give me the change (which was for almost 50 American dollars, didn't have anything smaller than 1,000 on me.)

EDIT: I mean 1,000 rubles....but that came out to about....30 American dollars, and I had to pay 1,500 Rubles.

Where were you when the phrase "Keep the change" is refused?

I wonder what would happen if you tried to run out without the 20 cents... would they tackle you and force it into your pockets? :D

"Hands up! Don't turn around. Take out your wallet
...
Now open it up...and put these two hundred dollar bills in it. Come on, take it!"

Just put it in your coin pile (or jar) like anyone else would.
Cannot think of a name

Or one of those cool Vortex charity things, that make the coins spin around a giant cone or something.

What kind of "let them eat cake" thing is it to complain about someone giving you change? Did you follow that with lighting a cuban cigar with a hundred dollar bill and chuckle, "I wonder what the poor people are doing right now."

Rotovia, did you stop to think that maybe he didnt want your measly 20 cents?

That maybe, if you were going to give him anything, it should have been a buck or so, maybe more?

Tell someone to "Keep the change", when its a mere couple of dimes is an insult.
Frankly, and I mean little offense, you sound like a spoiled privledged brat, who doesnt have any idea what its like to actually need tips, or the value of earning every penny you have.

If I have misjudged you, I apologize.
If I nailed it.....then I suppose you can dine on monkeypoo.
I dunno.

to some people 20 cents is a good contribution to their next meal.
