Spice Girls. I used to like Hanson, but my ears were actually bleeding from the hard-coreness of their sound, so I had to lighten up.

Fear Factory (Concrete and SoaNM only, afterwards they stopped playing death metal), The Berzerker, Fuck... I'm Dead, Cattle Decapitation, Suffocation... but really, why listen to death metal when there's grindcore, crust and powerviolence?

Fear Factory kicks ass. :p

That said, I don't really like them as a death metal group.

I tend to shy away from Death Metal for two reasons:

1. Most death metal singers sound like Zorak, from Space Ghost.

2. Fast does not= heavy.

Napalm Death, Death, Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Entombed, Slayer, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Amon Amarth, Strapping Young Lad, to name a few.

Cannibal CorpseGore-metal sucks. :P
Cannot think of a name
04-08-2006, 13:03
My brother's. I think they where called "Tuna-Free Dolphin Sandwich," but that might of been one of his other bands. I know the ska band was called "Stickman Lincoln." I like his band names.

I hate so ask this, becuase I HATE the over-classification of metal...

But are Slayer considered Death Metal?

If so....thats my pick.

See, I was thinking Thrash myself.

But then again, Metallica used to be considered Thrash as well.
Slayer was always heavier than Metallica.

Slayer was always heavier than Metallica.Yeah, that's my belief, too. Also, while the first couple of albums might have been thrash, they did get heavier with Reign in Blood.

Perhaps not so coincidently, that album is when I started to like them.

Moreover, I think they were around and had several albums long before labels like "Death/Prog/Power/Black" were.
So, if anything, they sort of defined the future of bands to come after them.
Much like Black Sabbath did.

I don't listen to death metal. To me, it's just screaming with drums. If I need something heavy, I listen to Rammstein.

Anyone else like melodic death metal? Like:

Killswitch Engage - saw them live with Slipknot and Unearth, they were awesome! They stole the show actually.

Killswitch Engage

So glad they're going to reading :) Them and slayer as well,

Must add Caliban, Atreyu, the final sigh, lamb of god, alexisonfire and still remains to this list while we're going slightly off death metal.

Yeah. Exactly.

If we're picking subgenres, Doom, stoner, and sludge > all other metal.

Although if I had to pick, probably Napalm Death.

My favorites are probably Death, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower, Kataklysm, and Opeth, if you count them. Some people consider them Extreme Prog metal.
