Seems President Morales has a plan to redistribute land from the rich who own it to the poor who do not. When Mugabe did a similarly stupid thing their economy promptly imploded (and continues to do so at a staggering rate).

After all, EVERYONE is good at farming, if they have land and a tractor.
And usually, unproductive land is unproductive for a good reason. The first one being that it's a waste of money to pay for seed and labor to grow anything because the market isn't going to give you a positive return on the investment.
Land run by people unfamiliar with farming is a recipe for zero productivity.
I guess no one remembers the starving Ukranians who were forced to become farmers after the real farmers were lined up and shot (or starved).

Dust bowls, floods due to loss of root systems and wetlands, and decimation of natural areas and the species which live in them. :(
