Tasty food or healthy food?

I just pinched a packet of crisps (potato chips) and they didn't taste that nice. It might have something to do with it saying on the packet: they contain 4g of fat and only 95 calories per pack. I have noticed before that low-fat foods aren't as nice as the normal stuff. Our house is full of it, my mother is on a diet and keeps buying all this healthy crap for herself. I was just wondering what was more important to people when they buy food, health or taste.

Whenever someone attempts to make a unhealthy food healthy, it usually ends up tasting like shit. Healthy food properly prepared can be some of the best tastingstuff on Earth, and unhealty food properly prepared can also be some of the best tasting stuff on Earth.

(I've always felt that you should have everything in moderation, including moderation. Sometimes, that healthy stuff gets bland and you just want to indulge in something totally unhealthy but absolutely delicious...go ahead, as long as it doesn't derail your balanced diet)

I usually stick to some flapjack or a good sandwich (cheese and tomato FTW) if I have sugary things like coke I usually feel guilty and just throw it away.

though I don't buy into this wholegrain crap I eat what I like if that happens to be healthy as well its win/win (though I need to put on some weight really)

You only have one body.

That being said, sweets and fatty foods are alright in moderation.

Tasty food. all the way.

But I have to point out that I normally find healthy food a lot tastier than unhealthy food...

You only live once so you might as well eat tasty food even if it kills you. Whats the point of living long if your not happy?

that's what I was going to say!

I have been eating healthier lately and now junk food just seems gross to me, I don't want potato chips, I want carrot sticks!!

I eat anything that I have in my house in moderation, I'm still skinny so it might change in the future

Indeed! To quote Kevin James: "I'd eat my left foot if it were wrapped in bacon."

Unfortunately, though, my gf's trying to lose weight, so I've been trying to cook healither stuff (yes, I do all the cooking). I've found, though, that a lot of low-fat/fat-free foods don't cook properly, like cheese and sour cream. Without the fat to give 'em substance, the lose their consistency and end up rather gross.

They say your metabolism slows as you get older, particularly once you hit 30. I'm 34, though, and luckily, haven't run into that problem yet. In fact, I'm still wearing the same size pants as I did when I graduated high school.

I try to eat healthy otherwise and then "splurge" my calories on things like "real sour cream" as long as I don't pig out on it, and I 'save up' calories and fat grams the rest of the week it seems to work alright.
TG me if you want some healthy recipes. :)

That's basically what we've been doing -- mostly cuz I can't take not eating delicious fatty foods. :) We do one "cheat day" a week, so that I can eat stuff I like, almost all of which is really high in fat.

I'll take you up on that recipe offer, too. I'm always interested in new recipes. I'm a member of a recipe-sharing site, but most of their low-fat recipes (at least the ones I've tried) kinda suck. The "I don't care what the hell I throw down my gullet" recipes tend to be pretty good, but the low-fat ones? Not so much.
