Life changing
Well I was just sitting here and it suddenly hit me. In ine year I'm going to university and I haven't booked any open days or properly researched fees. Well I ask NSG to give me tips on uni life and if you have attended or live near any of the following unis some background on them:
Lincoln University
Salford University
Southhampton University
Coventry University
Sheffield University
Northhampton University
Staffordshire University
If it helps I'm planning to study jounalism and english

I start in Sept so I have no advice yet...
Although if you're undecided on where to go...make that decision as soon as you can because being undecided or finding you're behind with stuff only gets stressful. Get in there quickly, have a look around, know what you want and go for it...you'll be expected to apply for it this november, unless your doing art. Bloody ridiculous.
I did a course to help me decide what I wanted to do at uni...started the course in sept...by november theyre asking me to fill in the forms for what I want to do??!?!
So yeah, dont leave things too late is my best advice.

Preferably in someone else's bed.

Always remember the Ol' College Try, where you get together with your friends, get some cheap beer, order a pizza and forget about tomorrow.
Start a diary, because stuff's going to happen you'll want to remember and trust me, you won't.

Preferably in someone else's bed.
They are overlapping sets of time well spent. In college life:
Time spent naked is time well spent.
Time spent in somebody else's bed is time well spent.
Therefore it follows that time spent naked in somebody else's bed is efficient multitasking. :)
Go to the one in the city with the best football team.
That's really how you rank universities.

Northampton has a University? *Shock*
I thought it just had a Tresham College... Maybe I'm not paying attention, maybe it's new (I started University in 1999).
I'm not so fond of Northampton (do you live nearby?). It's less pleasant to drive in/to than Leicester, Bedford or Peterborough. I'd go have a look before you choose it!

That's good advice, go scout the territory if you can.
Yeah it officially becomes Northhampton Unversity this year. Its about a two hour drive from my place

Stock up on tuna, soup in a can, and crackers. They will be your lifeblood.

Northampton woot! *waves shoes in air*
I’d recommend university of Northampton because:
1) me and my chums live near there!
2) the sixth formers at KCC (the school next door) are usually out to bang you
3) the place is full of hot people
4) it has a good nightlife (a hot spot for drinking on campus trust me)
5) Northampton is the land of shoes….yes shoes!
6) dogging hotspot at Pittsford and at sixfeilds
I’d not recommend it because:
1) Northantonians as a rule can be jackasses
2) I live there
3) abbey street is full of weirdo’s *runs as lynch mob forms*
4) the pub opposite is pricey
5) if drinking and making a nuisance of yourself is not your thing you will be very bored

And own-brand supernoodles on 5 for £1! If cooking ain't your thing then get this book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0751532754/sr=8-1/qid=1154554283/ref=pd_ka_1/026-7839393-3509214?ie=UTF8&s=gateway). It's excellent, really, and explains things really well. None of those pretentious verbs that chefs are so fond of.
Northampton gets a proper University. Next thing you know they'll be making it a City...
