So, anybody played Civ 4 Warlords yet?

It's pretty good. Some very unique scenarios. I particularly like Chinese Unification.

I think it's pretty good; but not like it's a brand shiny new game or anything. I'm waiting for the mod community to adapt the Warlords additions to their stuff.

I like that a couple of the traditional civs have more than one leader. I don't really think that England and Russia needed a third leader, not when nations like Greece could have used a second. But finally, playing Rome feels right. I can go all Imperialistic with J.C. or Creative with A.C. - I love it.

As far as the scenarios go; they're fun, but far too short for my liking. I haven't played them all, but had a bit of fun with the Peloponesian War. Played as Athens and came damn close to crushing Sparta... but not close enough... (Damn axemen tore through my legions of Swordsmen while I was busy bringing down her walls...)

All in all, Warlords gets my thumbs up. Waiting for the Mod community to sweeten the deal.

I'm pissed off that Germany didn't get a third leader. Frederick Barbarossa, anyone?

Its too buggy. The thing crashes 4 times out of 5 when I try to start it and cities I capture no longer prompt a window asking me what I want to build after they come out of a state of revolution. I didn't have these problems with the original and hope they'll put out a patch soon to fix this.

So long as you have the highest-end comp to run it. If it runs choppy on the lowest video settings on a 1.8MHz G5 iMac with a gig of RAM and 128M Radeon VRAM, they tried to do too much with the graphics. Damned if I'm upgrading for one game.

I don't know if it's out here. I guess i'll pick it up tonight if it is.

Mmmh. Late night shopping. So convenient. They should have that every night.

That's kinda bizarre.... you wouldn't think that there would be anything in the new content that would cause it to crash. I find it rather seamless actually. I also haven't seen a rash of posters complaining about it on the Civ boards either... Are you trying to play a mod meant for Vanilla or something?

I concur.

BEST FEATURE OF WARLORDS: Funky new menu theme song. Gives me the giggles everytime I hear it. It kind of reminds me of what the Ewoks would be singing if they doubled in size and had a Fascist leader.

Really? I liked the old theme better. Did you know that it's actually Our Father sung in Swahili?

Actually I like the original opeing much better, from the music to the swirling globe. But I still get a giggle out of the 'yub-yub-yub-yub' stuff in the new music.

Actually, I looked into that a bit, and bugs for Warlords are more common than I first thought. The most common one seems to be when the Ottoman Civilization comes into play. Apparently the art files for the Mehmed leader are corrupted, and causing crash to disk on many people's computers (but not all, and not mine).

I didn't notice anyone posting anything about the lack of building prompt from cities coming out of revolution, but there have been several minor glitches from some posters, so I'm sure you're not alone...

Might be a while for a patch... who knows?

Boy, sounds like I got lucky with it; no problems for me. Well, just one; when I play Barbarians, after using my purchase menu, some of the resources and improvement get a black shadow over them.
