What's the best WW1 film made and why?
...and, sorry, but "Black Adder Goes Forth" is NOT an option. :D
It was tough to choose just 10, so if "Anzacs" or "(The) Lost Batallion" or one of the other 500 or so movies made about The Great War was your choice... sorry.
Lawrence of Arabia is one of the finest films ever made - regardless of subject.

Thanks, I never noticed that the numbers were links. As for the movie, to each his own. :p I think it's more of a love story than a WWI/Russian Revolution movie, but that's IMHO. And it's freakin' long.

I think that's one of the few "classic" movies that truly and utterly disappointed me.

Hey... you know that'd be like putting in "Life of Brian" as a choice in a "Best Biblical Movie" thread. EVERYONE would vote for it!! :)

Not that it's a WWI movie, but that's almost exactly what I said about Citizen Kane.

Back in my day, sonny, we had intermission!!
(No, I'm not that old, that's a joke...)
BTW, Doctor Zhivago is 197 minutes long. That's 4 minutes shorter than The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Even so, I must say I was actually moved in the final episode, how bizzare is that?

Really? Wow, to each his own then, I love that film and it was Citizen Kane that actually convinced my wife to give the classics a shot.

LOL. I've never seen it. Not a Tolkein fan. But that just means both of them are hideously long. ;)
