DAMASCUS (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told the Syrian military on Monday to raise its readiness, pledging not to abandon support for Lebanese resistance against Israel.
"We are facing international circumstances and regional challenges that require caution, alert, readiness and preparedness," Assad said.
Well, we can all sleep soundly in our beds tonight, knowing that Syria will be joining in on the combat. One might also expect Iran to weigh in soon, since the UN voted to threaten Iran with sanctions if they don't dismantle their nuclear program within 31 days.
I guess it's also telling that NATO's first combat operation, the assumption of command over troops in Afghanistan, is taking place completely outside of Europe.
Well, if it's going to happen at least we'll do it before Iran goes nuclear...

So, Syria is going to go and piss off the supporters of Isreal. I don't get it, why would you go up and kick the world in the proverbial ass? Are they asking to be invaded?

I am acutally quite worried now...
I remeber my friend asking me, "Is this really going to turn into a World War Three?"
And I said, "Nah, only if Iran and Syria get involved. And even THEY are not that stupid."

So if you attack syria.. you are indeed inviting Iran to the dance.

Don't run for cover just yet, nothing will happen. This is all a scare tactic. *Sips Lemonade while kicking back in a lawn chair*

This is not going to leave to Armaggedon. If Syria wants to join in on this conflict, I am sure that Israel will give them a warm welcome when bombs start to fall on Damascus. The Syrian Air Force will be completely destroyed and I do not believe that their military will be able to withstand Israel's.
I'm sure that the Syrian king would love to rule over a devestated capital as his government and military targets get completely destroyed.

I do not believe that the Arab world will participate. For one, they are scared of Iran and most of the governments have condemned Hezbollah. If they do get involved, then it could very well be against Iran. It is a possibility.
Bah, a conflict occurs in the Middle East (yet another one) and suddenly everyone thinks Armageddon is coming?
This makes me laugh.

I would think that they would say Syria for invading the United States would be suicide and no one has the ability to actually invade us save for Mexico but they do not have an effective army nor supplies to pull off such a thing.

no fear Syria would of already attacked if they were planning on saving Lebanon its also good to note that Lebanon is just sitting by not making a fuss thus Syria has no reason to invade (not that they will anyway because Syria won’t risk a war on Israel unless there is a chance they might actually win)
One might also expect Iran to weigh in soon, since the UN voted to threaten Iran with sanctions if they don't dismantle their nuclear program within 31 days.
I doubt Iran would invade Israel for that even if there is going to be real sanctions or anything happening just a nasty letter going into Iran’s Junk email

Ah, but I'm positing the theory that we are now in the Age of the Truly Stupid.
Idiots flew planes into the World Trade Center. Truly stupid, because America would react severely.
America invaded Iraq. Truly stupid.
Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel. Truly stupid.
Israel reacts severely. Truly stupid.
And you don't think Syria will be "truly stupid"? Or Iran? After all, those two nations financed every cent of Hezbollah (minus the illicit cigarette sales by Hezbollah cells in the US, and financing from the French government), and delivered to Hezbollah all those rockets and mortar shells and AK rifles and hand grenades and suicide bomb kits... which was TRULY stupid...
Everything is truly stupid in this age. Now, you guess what happens next.

I got it! Syria attacks Israel and Iran takes the opportunity to pwn Syria. Then Syria retaliates and Iran nooks them. Afterwards, the US goes into WWIII, evacuates a few people to the moon, and nukes the world to its end. :( :( :(

may of been there plan all along maybe someone had a bone to pick with Saddam from the Iran-Iraq war and America could be gullible enough to invade or maybe someone needed to get the Taliban out of there poppy fields
America invaded Iraq. Truly stupid.
not really since the U.S homeland hasn't been touched by the war and its serves as an excuse to position huge amounts of troops in the area
Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel. Truly stupid.
actually its worked like a charm for Hezbollah look at the huge PR boost
Israel reacts severely. Truly stupid.
not at all Israel has an excuse to be jumpy since its what has usually worked in the past

Syria and Iran don't like Israel but they can't risk attacking Israel directly so they did the old cold war tactic of getting someone else to do your dirty work they are still doing this now I do believe hence why Israel is trying to stop arms coming in Israel shouldn’t overreact with this and invade Syria because they have never done so in the past so its win-in for Syria and Iran
Also note that the world has always been considered truly stupid yet as time goes by people relies that maybe it wasn’t so stupid after all
