Political Allegiance

I realize that not everyone on these forums are from the same nation, and that different political parties with different political orientations stand for different things in different nations.

Ok, so, anyways, the point is that I didn't include the names of political parties, but rather political ideologies.

So vote.

Personally, I'm a centrist libertarian.

And it's spelt Northern.

Guide to Northern Ireland politics:

Unionist: wants to remain part of the UK
Nationalist: wants Northern Ireland to be a separate nation
Loyalist: supports the British monarchy
Republican: against the British monarchy

There's a lot of overlap between the Unionists and Loyalists, and between the Nationalists and Republicans - many people treat the terms as interchange.

Well, if we're going to be strict about it, there's shouldn't be any overlap between unionist and loyalist, or nationalist and republican.

Unionist and Nationalist are those who use politics to achieve their aim, loyalist and republican use force.

Anyway, the Unionist parties are traditionally staunchly conservative.

Wow, ok, sorry everyone. As you can tell by my total posts I'm a newb on these forums. I left my computer alone for about 45 minutes on the pages where I typed everything to post this thread.

I didn't have time to create the poll so I decided to create it when I returned.

But for some reason my computer decided to post this thing on the messages boards anyways, so..

Moderators, do your thing. Poll this shiz up dawg.

Oh, yeah, I didn't realize there was a thread already linked to a political spectrum quiz.

please dont eat me -_-

Right-leaning centrist economically, very liberal socially, internationalist, free trade advocate, pacifist, global warming believer, and incurable cynic. Which is why I hate all of the mainstream political parties in the UK and owe my allegiance to none.

I also generally tend to set far more store in my social beliefs than in my economic ones. I can generally find people who I agree with from both ends of the economic spectrum (Vetalia and Pure Metal, so it doesn't get much more different economically than that), but authoritarians? Forget it.

Happily a member of Comhaontas Glas (http://www.greenparty.ie/) - the Irish Green party.

Meaning I'm a left-leaning centrist, socially moderate democrat who is really pro-environmental protection. Like all Irish people I oppose imperialism and wars of aggression.

I'm in favour of secularism, but I admit that my political views are informed by the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I'm a member of the green party because they agree with most of my beliefs, and they seem to be the only party that is looking at the future in terms of decades, not just the next election.

An economically socialist, socially libertarian, Northern Irish unionist.
I didn't know there were any left wing unionists!

I thought all lefties up north were either nationalists, or unaffiliated.

Most conservatives are Unionist, but not all Unionists are conservatives.

Does anyone else here roughly subscribe to some of the political ideas of Paul Lafargue? In summation, the man was against work of any sort, except purely by choice and for fun (and I don't mean "choice" in the "you can choose to work or die" sense).

I don't believe in ideologies, political or otherwise. I'm registered Independent, and try to vote for candidates who seem to have the best handle on rational solutions, regardless of their party.

Now there's a novel idea! Actually taking advantage of the democratic process to reflect on the pros and cons of each candidate and not blindly vote for your 'party of allegiance'.

I'm the same way. I like to keep my options open, and try to find the best solution for the issue.
