Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers.
Everybody should hear their timeless masterpieces like "The Abominable Snowman in the Market", "Lonely Financial Zone", or "I'm a Little Dinosaur" at least once in their lives.

I think I know some of your tastes after threads like these.
Here are bands Ive discovered/rediscovered recently:
May Blitz ( Cream and Pink Floyd had a love child.)
Astroqueen (I know youve mentioned that youve heard these guys, but they really kick ass, so they get another mention)
Leafhound (Freelance Fiend..bad ass tune)
Pentagram (not a black-metal band, more like Proto-Doom Metal. pretty cool, if not as talented as say, Sabbath, who were contemporaries.)
St. Vitus.
Very sludgey doom metal, like a later version of Pentagram.
Budgie.
yet another English 70's band, we all know them from Metallica covering a few of thier songs.
Even though Budgie was around first, the singer sounds much like Geddy Lee.
Theyve got some very cool songs.

As someone who plays Hammond Organ and guitar, I make it my business to keep up with bands who make use of both at once.. it gives me ideas even amid songs I don't much like.. I'm not much in to "psychedelic" music, but in this case, the band seems to have their act pretty well refined, so I've downloaded a few of their tracks. If you like organ as much as I do, you might appreciate it. :)

Yeah. I've been really wanting to check them out but they seem hard to find.

That site's got the videos for some of their songs on it - you'll get their newest one, Empire, playing immediately, but you can also type in track titles where it prompts you. I suggest you put L.S.F. or Club Foot in, but if you like them get the whole album. Bloody love it, I do.

that means "I liked it".
As for Kyuss, I have "Welcome to Sky Valley".

I like "Demon Cleaner", and "100 degrees".
John Garcias voice gets on my nerves a little, hes not horrible..but not good either.
I prefer the first two Queens of the Stone Age to Kyuss.

Aye, that's the one in particular I want. When I heard that, I knew it'd probably be cool. :p
Ive heard of Mastodon, but cant recall any of thier stuff.
I'll look into all three of em.
"Leviathan" is apparently the best Mastodon album, but I have "Remission", and I think it's pretty cool.
Boris' music varies a bit between styles, but i'd say "Amplifier Worship" is their best album. Japanese drone doom, heh. If you can stand that one, try "Black One" by the band Sunn O))) - that style is an acquired taste though, so fair warning. :p
As for Electric Wizard, their first album (selftitled) is probably their most Sabbathy, but if you can stand insanely heavy, "Dopethrone" is easily their best.
The first time I heard Sleep, I thought "wow thats really Sabbathy"
that means "I liked it".
Pretty much my reaction, too :p
As for Kyuss, I have "Welcome to Sky Valley".
Its ok.
I like "Demon Cleaner", and "100 degrees".
John Garcias voice gets on my nerves a little, hes not horrible..but not good either.
I don't mind his voice so much, but the instrumental style and song structure is what really draws me to it. I'd say that album is one of my favourites ever, but "Blues for the Red Sun" and "...And the Circus Leaves Town" are pretty good too.
I prefer the first two Queens of the Stone Age to Kyuss.
Yeah, I have them almost on the same level myself.
Oh, and since you like early doom, check out Trouble if you haven't already....TG me if you have difficulty finding stuff by them, because I was looking for it for months. (they're out of print apparently)

Hardcore punk? Really not a fan, but I'll give it a shot.
Let's see, who would I recommend? How about the following:
Bach - his fugues are cool, especially Toccata and Fugue in D minor
Mozart - I'd go for his symphonies 40 and 41
Beethoven - His 3rd and 9th symphonies are my favorites
Chopin - Try some preludes if you want some short pieces to start
Wagner - Well, almost nothing he wrote was short, try some overtures
Maybe Debussy or Ravel for a taste of what lies beyond.

It kinda depends on what you're looking for. I mainly listen to progressive rock and hard rock. Mostly if the local radio station likes it, and everyone around me likes it, odds are, I won't. I may have been the only American who actually liked Skyhooks in the seventies, for example. Certainly the only one, I knew.
Right now I primarily listen to
Tool (all of it)
System Of A Down (last three albums they have really come into their own)
Flaming Lips (these guys sound like no-one else) or Mr. Bungle
King Crimson (anything from the Red era is good, as is the Adrian Belew era)
though Buckcherry and Nashville Pussy is good, too if you like raw and dirty rock and roll.

Yes, sadly, Trouble's albums are out of print, but according to their website, they're supposed to be rereleasing the first two.
I imagine you're heard High On Fire, but I'll recommend them just in case.
Penance is a good doom band. Not as good as Cathedral, but still good. (Hooray for local bands!)
I'm not sure if you checked Local H out or not, but in case you haven't, I recommend them again. www.localh.com They just released a CD of demos, and you can hear a couple of songs on the website. Unfortunately, the first version of "Halcion Daze" isn't on the site (it is on the CD, though) They didn't release it because they thought it sounded too much like "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" by Queens of the Stone Age.
The Plasmatics. Depending which album you get, they're either punk or metal. It's all good, though.
Oh, have you checked out Earth yet?
That's all, for now.

We put on a gig for Good Clean Fun once.
Unfortunately they cancelled at the last minute because they had forgotten to book space on the ferrry to get the band and their gear over to Ireland, so we put up a big sign on the door saying:
Good Clean Fun will not be playing tonight because they suck donkey's cocks.
The rest of the support bands played anyhow and we made the most of the night, until the lead singer of GCF arrived at the door, having travelled over as a foot passenger...
EDIT: aside from which Good Clean Fun are all very well, but they're no Crucial Youth (http://www.newredarchives.com/bands/crucialyouth/comix.htm) - Cross On The Green For A Positive Scene!

Truthfully, Im not sure If Ive heard that one.

I do like the band's humour though.
Such songs like "Hot as a Docker's Armpit", or "Nude Distintegrating Parachutist Woman"....thats funny.

Ah, here we go:
From the site http://www.newtrouble.com/
Unfortunately, there isn't yet anything more specific than this.
3-9-06
How ya doin'
We are almost finished with the new record. Just a few odds and ends
need to be cleared up and off to mastering towards the end of March. It
looks like a June release, that's if the weather is nice. Also, the
Trouble Live in Stockholm DVD will be released on March 26, 2006.
We finally reached an agreement to release "Psalm 9" and "The Skull";
they are going to be re-mastered. We are also in the process of digging
up some cool bonus material that nobody has seen or heard before; these
will come out later this year.
While we were looking for stuff we came across the dat for "One for the
Road" and there was an extra song that we forgot about. It's a
different version of "Here the Earth" - check it out in the mp3 section.
See you soon!
Trouble
Thanks for recommendations, people. I'll go over them individually later.

Heres one for the "Hate the Singer, Love the Band Category"
Mercyful Fate.
Bad-ass band....But King Diamond's voice makes me want to kick puppies.
Dammit, man...that's blasphemy!!! I've always liked KD, especially when he broke away from MF and went solo! Anyway, here ya' go:
Anathema (Doom)
Cathedral (Doom)
Athiest (Technical)
Confessor (Technical)
Vio-Lence (Speed/Thrash)
Forbidden (Speed/Thrash)
Exhorder (Speed/Thrash)
Kreator (Speed/Thrash)
Sacred Reich (Speed/Thrash)
Acid Bath (Defies Explanation)
There's my Top 10! I'm sure you've heard of a few of these but I hope there are some that prove useful! Enjoy!!!
Oh, the BOLD bands are not only killer but also hometown favorites!

Go on, suggest me some bands to check out. I'm open to anything.
...almost anything. If you suggest something poor, I shall inform you of that fact and ridicule you or something.
But apart from that, feel free to attempt to knock me out with something good.
Website/mp3 links are helpful.
The title is intentionally poor grammar. *nods*

Check out 41 North, a high school band which is actually very good.

There are links to download or listen to some of their songs.

Pure Reason Revolution (modern prog, very good), and Ska-P (Spanish ska, what more could you ask for?!).
Hm. Do you know anywhere where I can download free classical music? That'd make things so much easier.
Not impossible. Just hard..
TG if you're interested enough to get MSN--I'll send you a few if keen.
Hardcore punk? Really not a fan, but I'll give it a shot.
My MSN is in my profile. :)
Philosophofee by Ima Robot (or most other things by them)
Anything by Flogging Molly.
Flogging Molly are okay. I'll check out the other.
MetallicA - lyrical genius, alcohol and instrumental talent.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5b1FEe9ZPEk&
Thanks, I hadn't heard of them before.
I'd recommend Dirty Rottten Imbeciles (DRI). Linky (http://www.dirtyrottenimbeciles.com/music.htm)
I'd try listening to songs off Thrash Zone first. The quality of the vocals are quite good on Thrash Zone.
Also started listening to Good Clean Fun lately. I like them pretty good. I got their "Shopping for a Crew" album off Soulseek and I quite like it.
Everyone else I have, I'm sure you'd already have a firm opinion on.
Not bad, but a little bog-standard. Might grow on me when i'm better in the mood for punk.
Right now I primarily listen to
Tool (all of it)
System Of A Down (last three albums they have really come into their own)
Flaming Lips (these guys sound like no-one else) or Mr. Bungle
King Crimson (anything from the Red era is good, as is the Adrian Belew era)
I already like all of those. (but I disagree on SOAD, their first album was their best).
though Buckcherry and Nashville Pussy is good, too if you like raw and dirty rock and roll.
I do. I'll have a look.

At first, I was thinking "KILL IT" but some of it is actually interesting so far. Hm. I like the second band.
Yes, sadly, Trouble's albums are out of print, but according to their website, they're supposed to be rereleasing the first two.
I have all of their albums in MP3s, but that's good at least.
I imagine you're heard High On Fire, but I'll recommend them just in case.
Aye. Matt Pike is cool. Have you heard the band Om? It's the other former members of Sleep...I've been meaning to check them out, but they're hard to find.
Penance is a good doom band. Not as good as Cathedral, but still good. (Hooray for local bands!)
Ooh, another doom band I haven't heard of. I'll look them up.
I know a couple of songs and I liked what i've heard so far, but I hadn't heard that one - sounds interesting though, since i'm a QOTSA fan and all.
The Plasmatics. Depending which album you get, they're either punk or metal. It's all good, though.
They're okay...I guess. I've got bad memories of having them blasted at me while hungover at a friends house a couple of weeks ago, though (i'm 90% sure it was them.) I might wait a bit before checking them out further.
Oh, have you checked out Earth yet?
I'm still regretting not picking up Earth 2 that time I spotted it. Haven't been able to find them since. :(
I have no clue about your taste. Though it seems to me that many NSers would reject this: http://www.chlyklass.ch/html/videoclips/framesetauslarge.html
And rather for fun than for beautiful music, same label, but with a bit of middle eastern flavour:
http://www.chlyklass.ch/html/videoclips/framesetdounialarge.html
...What? Though, I guess, it'd be more fun if you could actually understand the texts...
I can't view that. Quicktime hates my version of windows. :(
Give Warmen a try.
Power metal. :/
Here's some suggestions for you, compiled from a few old shopping lists. You'll just have to forgive me for not spending a week finding links for you. Google is your friend:
Haha, you've got good taste. I know a few of those (i'd pick out which ones, but that'd take forever). Haven't heard some of them for years though.
Anathema (Doom)
Cathedral (Doom)
Already know and like 'em. :)
Athiest (Technical)
Confessor (Technical)
Vio-Lence (Speed/Thrash)
Forbidden (Speed/Thrash)
Exhorder (Speed/Thrash)
Kreator (Speed/Thrash)
Sacred Reich (Speed/Thrash)
Hmm....not really a speed or thrash fan. I'll give them a shot though. I know Kreator already...and i'm sure i've heard Atheist before.
Acid Bath (Defies Explanation)
I think the technical term is "sludge metal". Pretty awesome band though. Since they're local to you, have you seen them live?
Eyehategod and Facedowninshit are similar, you might like them too.

Pretty generic, but okay for high school kids I guess.

I'll check them out tomorrow.

I know a couple of songs and I liked what i've heard so far, but I hadn't heard that one - sounds interesting though, since i'm a QOTSA fan and all.Yes, that's why I mentioned it. If you download it from some website, make sure the title is "Halcion Daze" and not "Halcion Daze (Where Were You Then?)" The latter is the song that they came up with because they rejected the former, the former is the one I'm talking about, though the latter is also a good song.
They're okay...I guess. I've got bad memories of having them blasted at me while hungover at a friends house a couple of weeks ago, though (i'm 90% sure it was them.) I might wait a bit before checking them out further.Lol. Are noises much worse when you're hungover?

I think the technical term is "sludge metal". If you like sludge metal, there's Dream Death, the band which became Penance after they broke up. Their stuff is harder to find than Penance's, though.

Hm, if you're into punk, you'll probaly already know a few of these:
Strike Anywhere
A Global Threat
Complete Control
Ignite
Agnostic Front
I won't name anymore, there's waaaaaay too many. For some other tight punk songs, I got some links in my signature.
For some ska, I'd recommend:
Big D And The Kids Table
Catch 22
Streetlight Manifesto

Nah. Much the same as any other headache, you just don't feel like loud music. :p
www.subpop.com Though you might not want to order from there, I'm not sure what shipping costs would be.
Generally shipping costs aren't too bad, but i'd rather find it in a store here than order from overseas unless it's a last resort, mainly because of payment difficulty (international money orders are expensive and time consuming). Also, i'm generally unwilling to go to the trouble of doing so over bands I haven't heard before. (I find that Earth albums are really hard to find on filesharing programs)
If you like sludge metal, there's Dream Death, the band which became Penance after they broke up. Their stuff is harder to find than Penance's, though.

I know Agnostic Front. I like punk, but the thing is, it's become something I really have to be in the mood for...that, and I think there are relatively few punk bands that really sound "different" or innovative in some way after you've gotten your feet wet in the genre, so I find it hard to keep an open mind when checking out new punk bands.
For some ska, I'd recommend:
Big D And The Kids Table
Catch 22
Streetlight Manifesto
I'll give them a shot, but I can't say that ska has ever done much for me.

Well, here's some links for the Ska if you need some (hope you don't mind putfile :p )

Enjoy! (or despise it, either way) :D
EDIT: Btw, if you're looking for a good punk band, I'd say Anti-Flag. They got a lot of good shit.

Seeing the music you seem to prefer, you might wanna give Opeth a try, and in case you're up for something completely different, Richard Cheese is your guy.
Anyways, I suggest you check out this site (http://www.pandora.com/), enter the name of a band you like, and enjoy.
Power metal. :/
Nothing wrong with power metal. Besides, Warmen's more progressive metal, or maybe neo-classical. I mean, they have one song on each album devoted to Antonio Saleri...
