The only one I know off the top of my head are the state-sanctioned monopolies, like power companies and cable companies.
They're exempt I assume because it would be silly and complicated to have many competing power grids in one area, so one company manages an entire area without competition.

I need help, I have to do a paper on antitrust exemptions, I was hoping somebody can tell me why some businesses are exempt, I can't find the right info on why.

I just wanted to point that out to you. In cases like these I believe a quick reminder of the rules is better action than running to moderation.
