2 things in this post, i figure, kill two birds with one stone.

OK, i am so sick of just being completely oblivious. Why do muslims and jews hate eachother? Honestly, why do they hate eachother. This has been going on for thousands of years. What is the problem with jews? Can anybody out there explain just why they hate eachother? Because it seems completely pointless. (and dont go and say its israel's fault becasue this has been going on for thousands of years longer than israel has existed).

second, why are the lebanese and palestinians burning american flags outisde UN buildings in lebanon and gaza? the US has done utterly nothing to make the situation worse yet they still show utter disrespect to a nation which has done nothing to provoke violence.

Isn't America providing Israel with bombs? There was quite a kerfuffle at Prestwick (again).

Got one FedExed to me by [violet], it slots into a USB port, interfaces with the browser and has heuristic algorithms which detect AOL buzzwords. That's why Christofi and The Red Arrow were allowed to stay so long, without them, we would never have got these things calibrated.

How cool is that? :p

Actually I think you should be required to wear a policeman's helmet with a flashing blue light on top whenever you make an official ruling on here. You can put a webcam up so we all know you're doing it.

Which basically means that overgeneralizations are not your friend ;)

(and dont be one of those liberal assholes who go and say that the US has special ops in israel provoking violence, because everbody knows that is utter insanity).Gerneral paranoia that the world's superpower is secretly fucking over a muslim country. The fact that such things have happened before don't help. As for "done utterly nothing to make the situation worse": pushing to accelerate an arms shipment of bunker busters isn't "utterly nothing". The blockade of any action for an immediate ceasefire may also not be viewed as "utterly nothing". This would be the more legitimate reasons for being angry with the United States.

actually, it is now, mostly because the comment "liberal asshole" was unneeded, but included anyway.

as for your question, according to Islam, Jews are another "people of the book", and are therefore one of the groups that a Muslim can marry (the three groups being Muslim, Jew, and Christian). The hatred in the region ties more to ancient tribal issues than religious ones, much like the issues between Persians and Jews.

you cant tell me that you have never seen a completely impartial post turn into a partisin free-for-all when somebody has to go and and makes a BUSH SUCKS ASS or BINLADEN IS A GREAT LEADER comment. i needed my "liberal asshole" comment to tell people not to go and say something to screw it up half way through discussion because everybody gets all off topic

And then it all went off topic because of that very comment.

How deliciously apt.

Ironic that "liberal asshole" had already started to derail this thread by the third response.
yes, saying "bush sucks" derails discussion. But then again, so does "liberal asshole". You could have made the same exact statement/request sans "liberal asshole" and there would be no problem. As it stands now, I think TG said it best.

You're just a ball of sunshine and joy, aren't you?

Anyway, I answered the first question...as for the second, I'd say it has to do with generations of western influence over the region which created many of the conflicts today, and the fact that the US is current leader of the western world.

As much as I can understand the need to know expressed in the OP, I doubt the answer would be useful. It's like asking "why does shit stink?" Even if one could provide a list of all the chemicals involved, it wouldn't smell any better. It's not the chemicals themselves that make shit stink as much as it is the perception of the smell.

How can one change people's perceptions? That's the better question.

A short and therefore not very detailed reply...

Much of the current "pan-Islamist" hatred of Jews/Zionists/Israel is modern antisemitism, bundled together from various factions of a group known (colloquially?) as the Muslim Brotherhood.

This group was formed out of various "resistance units" and fifth-columnists funded to fight the British in the Middle East during WWII.

Guess who funded them(and effectively created their philosophy). That's right, the guys who, if I say their names, everything goes haywire.

However, the passages in the Q'ran (and they are there) that demonize Jews were written about 1100 years ago (IIRC).

AT THAT TIME, Muhammed and his disciples, even before converting to submission to one God, were part of nomadic families and clans that fought other families and clans of similar type throughout the region.

Some of these adversaries were animist or polytheist. Some were actually Christian tribal peoples.

And yes, some of these were Jews, or allied/working with Jewish kingdoms.

Yes, Jewish kingdoms. Yemen was actually ruled off and on by Jewish warrior kings for quite some time, in the past, f'rinstance.

The Q'ranic passages defaming Jews are written by a man of that time; when many prominent Jewish tribes were bloodthirsty, powerful, cruel people.

Not because they were Jews, because they were THEM.

Modern "Islamist/Brotherhood" doctrine isolates these passages, as if they were eternally relevant, and upholds them over other, more median-to-kind passages.

EDIT: I can only suspect that this hatred's germination is shared by Jews living in the Middle East because of similar reasons: ancient cultural/land wars (having little actual to do with religion and more about family or "people"), bolstered by the constsnt current land wars of today, and kept alive by vicious monoculturalist ideologues who use ancient (isolate passages of) scripture to justify cruelty.

By the way, Amadenijad, I agree that you would be better served by framing your initial questions more carefully and less stridently.

You managed to sound simultaneously disingenuous and defensive in your OP.

Your current frustration with the answers you recieve can be blamed largely on the tone you initially set...
