Have you seen the Nabob commercial with the carpet shop owner? He brews himself a cup of coffee and is carrying it to his desk to savor, when he trips and falls. The coffee spills all over an expensive carpet, and he shrieks. He wrings the coffee out of the carpet, so he can go on enjoying his coffee, but while that is amusing, the best part of the commercial is his pratfall. It takes like 1 second out of the whole commercial, maybe less, but the commercial is worth sitting through multiple times just to see that. It's a classic.
So do you have any favourite examples of the classic pratfall?

Falling forward is funnier than falling backwards. There's more stumbling involved as the person tries to right themselves, whereas a backward pratfall goes largely unopposed as the pratfallee knows it won't hurt that bad.
