Blacks wouldn't have to worry about discrimination if they just tried as hard as they could to be white.

I kinda agree, but I think we should use black more then any other stupid term. As soon as we recognize that skin colour has no more affect on your personality and intelligence then hair colour does, skin colour should be treated as such. When we call people blond, ginger... We should also call people black, white in the same way etc...

Certain types of people will always find something to discriminate against.

It's rarely the fault of the person being discriminated against.

Something I find interesting is the contradiction invoked by the different definitions of racism.

Somebody who says that their race is discriminated against because it has black/white/yellow/green with pink spots skin is a racist because they follow the theory of racism.

HOWEVER

If that same person does not discriminate on terms of race they are not a racist because they do not employ racialism.

FWIW, I agree with you. Really though, in order to end discrimination, we would have to eliminate the concepts that allow for discrimination, specifically synecdoche and metonymy. If the sentence " So-and-so is black referred to the color of their skin, there would be no problem, but when it is extrapolated to "so-and-so is a representative of an entire race of people, therefore responsible for all the successes and failures of that race", therefore is entitled to all the perks and consideration (scorn and abuse) associated with that race", then it becomes a problem.

What about all the assumptions that one can make based on race? Personally, I would rather be considered naive than stupid anyday.

Racism exists and it's not the fault of minorities. Do minorities sometimes see racism where it doesn't exist? Sure. Everyone does. However, this happens because racism is still common enough for people to be looking for it.

Segregation and self-segregation does seem to encourage discrimination, when everyone of different races mix there is more understanding and so more acceptance of different cultures and stuff. Which is good. :) No you are not insane Sel Appa, although these days there is more discrimination based on religion then skin colour so I have a little more concern about that. People should get to know others of a different religion and get to understand their way of life. Or we should just abolish religion (waits to be bashed for being a crazy atheist who enforces my non-belief on you all) :p Actually I don't care what you think, as long as you aren't mean to others. Now, the thing is, I believe we can keep separate cultures and races distinct, and yet be equal. Different doesn't have to be a by-word for inequality. After all, diverse cultures make everything far more interesting, so melding them all together would just be boring, and we might end up w/o apple pie and baseball here in America
