I'm sure many of you have heard of the Gumball 3000. For those of you who haven't, it's a street race that's carried out in a different section of the world every year. There are dozens of high-end cars that participate in this race.
I'm thinking of entering in '08 with my 450hp SRT4 (when it's finished), just to field a car that is not normally thought of as competing on that scale.
What do you guys think? Should I go for it?
(For a small sampling of some of the vehicles in this race, go to this video (http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1271/) and watch some of the entered vehicles.)

Go for it. You may not win, but the Gumball is the closest thing there is to a Cannonball. It lacks the political statement (Cannonball was a protest of speed limits) and has more of a modern street racer party atmosphere to it.
For a legal kick look up One Lap of America. A friend of mine has run that for two years now, fantastic circuit. You'd be competitive with that car as well.

Where does it run from and too? I heard it was London to Berlin.
Cannot think of a name

One Lap is organized by the same guy who organized the original Cannonball, Brock Yates, editor-in-chief of Car and Driver.
Probably already knew that, just being a nerd.
Hell, I've thought of entering these rally things in my old VW Bus, because they're mostly about the fun (but, come on-you want to win...). But shit yeah, totally go for it. Live my dream because it will be a loooooooong time before I can afford a sports car. I also have an affection for showing up in something not represented.

It changes every year.

Of course. Nothing would make me more smug than to beat a bunch of McClarens and Ferrari's in a Neon. It isn't going to happen, but hell yeah I would want it to.
