That's right. A 624 run partnership and no against some shit team. Against South Africa. Sangakkara and Jayawardene have batted fucking awesome.

I'm pissed off at NZ tv now.. How was it that I missed this perfect display?!

i dont have Sky so i couldnt watch that partnership or England dancing on Pakistans batsmen :(

Bangladesh 246/7 (50 ov)
Zimbabwe 248/8 (49.1 ov)
Zimbabwe won by 2 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)

Today:
Bangladesh 238/8 (50 ov)
Zimbabwe 17/1 (6.0 ov)
Zimbabwe require another 222 runs with 9 wickets and 44.0 overs remaining
Match delayed - Live Updates unavailable

To be honest with some of their recent showings, I would have expected Bangladesh to take this series easily. Remember their amazing first day in the test against australia? Remember their one dayer against australia?

SA still got rolled for 160-odd in the first innings..

The partnership probably wouldn't have gone on that long if that hadn't happened. Had sri lanka not had that behind them they probably would have had to declare way earlier.

Shit.. What team do you play for?

Tintern, we this dodgey village team with a pitch that is used for football in the winter.

Last year Caerphilly Druids caned us, this year they just hit the bad balls straigh to feilders (3 times) and because there opener got hit on the head the kept playing over the ball (thinking it would bounce, but the wicket calmed down after a few overs) and got another 4 bowled and 3 lucky edges fineshed them off.

We then knocked of the runs in double quick time and was home by half 5

I think that's a bigger margin of victory than England v. Pakistan the other day. The Sri Lankan partnership really was astonishing. I wonder if this is just the team coming into a period of excellent form, or if they will continue to grow and become a real force to be reckoned with.

I went to the final day of the Lord's test against Pakistan the other week. It was very disappointing that they could only get a draw when they were in such a dominating position; I don't rate Strauss as captain at all, and don't understand why they don't give it back to Trescothick.

I have Cricket 2004 on PC, but it's not brilliant. It's really hard to find a decent cricket simulator; I hate the way that on this game when the computer is bowling you will get about 50-100 extras in the innings because the keeper misses anything bowled even slightly wide and it goes to the boundary.

Cricket '05 isn't too bad. It's a bit silly though because some places are just impossible to get runs in while others are always easy. A leg glace for example will always get you runs.. Whilst a cover drive can ve very risky and a straight drive is highly unlikey to be successful unless you try go over the top. 3/4's of the time I try to go over the top, I get caught.

Alas, it's still fun.

THIRD TEST, HEADINGLEY, DAY THREE: England 515 all out v Pakistan 481-7

Kamran Akmal was caught at slip off Sajid Mahmood to boost England's hopes of claiming a small lead in the third Test against Pakistan at Headingley.

It left Pakistan on 481-7, 34 behind, but they looked like establishing a big lead earlier when Mohammad Yousuf (192) and Younis Khan (173) put on 363.

That was a Pakistan record for any wicket against England.

Yousuf eventually edged Steve Harmison behind and Younis was run out, one of three wickets in 10 balls before tea

Jones is resonably solid, if unspectacular. He was completely and utterly out played in both keeping and batting by Sangakkara, which shows how much better you can be keeping at this level. IMO, Jones is probably good enough to be an international keeper, but the selection of Read (who I assume has been playing well at domestic level) if nothing else shows there is real competition for places which is what a team needs.

Strauss emulates his partner, getting on the front foot and launching Kaneria over mid-wicket before sweeping him from outside off-stump for four more in the same region. The opening partnership is now England's highest of the summer.
That's good news that they've got a good score, but bad news in that it's come through a complete fluke. The fact that it's the highest this summer is sad...
