Question About Vietnam War

I was wondering how many American soldiers were in Vietnam on a monthly basis from 1965 to 1973. If someone could give me this data on a yearly basis, that would be greatly appreciated also.

Thanks a lot.

Lots. Why does it matter, why do you care, why don't you try looking it up yourself?

I highly doubt the average NSer would know those data unless they pulled it out of some source, which is essentially what you need to do yourself...

I'm just curious. If you don't have the answer, then why even post?

Because the question bothers me. I think its disrespectful to Vietnam veterans to ask such a mundane question about the war.

Considering the fact that nearly half of my family has been in the military, and that I fully intend to go to Iraq in a little over a year, this question strikes somewhat close to home.

I don't need to join the army. I'm a one man militia!

The....hell?

Dude, like it or not, the war is a piece of history. The only thing that would be disrespectful to the veterans is if we shut our eyes to that fact, never brought it up, and pretended it didn't exist. YOUR attitude is disrespectful to the war, for being bothered by questions about it.

It happened, it's history, it is a valid topic of discussion.

That being said the board still isn't a place to get your homework done.

Wait... what? Seriously, what?

I'm confused.

How would a history textbook written by you look?

How many troops fought in World War Two?

Nobody knows because asking such a mundane question about the war is disrespectful to veterans.

How many supplies were sent from America to Korea during the Korean War?

Nobody knows because asking such a mundane question about the war is disrespectful to veterans.

How many aircraft were used in Operation Market Garden?

Nobody knows because asking such a mundane question about the war is disrespectful to veterans.

To my knowledge, about 400,000 on average.

Are you suggesting that soldiers engaged in police activities deserve more respect than other mere mortals?

I really don't need to add my thoughts in on what Liberated New Ireland said. Everyone else has sumed it up nicely.

Why is an Irishman going to war in Iraq?

I would either assume that Ireland is involved or that he lives in a country that is involved, though don't take my word for it...

Ireland is not officially involved - she maintains her neutrality - however, what she does do is allow the staging of US troops and supplies through Shannon Airport, much to the displeasure of a great deal of her population.

Liberated New Ireland's sig seems pretty adamant in claiming that he is Irish, so I can only speculate...
