I recently got a computer for my upstairs ; I have a belkin wireless router and comcast cable modem downstairs. My two computers downstairs connect to the internet fine, although I didn't set this up. I got the correct internet card for my computer to connect to my network, and I can connect to my network, I just get an error message that says "limited or no connectivity." Does anyone with experience /w computers know the solution to this problem? My signal is certainly strong enough (ranging between good and very good). For a while, I had good connectivity but still could not get on the internet, because I could never "renew the IP address", but now I'm back to square one after I reinstalled my internet card.

I too have a belkin router - though not a comcast thingee, and got problems with it (15 minute installation? Bah. Got to work after several weeks - that's with one computer nerd (me) and one IT teacher (my Mum) and another computer nerd (my twin)) and I also am going from downstairs to upstairs. One thing that seemed to be messing it up was all those Norton things. Do you have Norton?

Well, is the router set to hand out IP addresses through DHCP or is it static? Is your computer set to get an address through DHCP or does it have a static one?

That's the first thing I'd check. Then I'd see if the router doesn't have MAC address filtering enabled, and if it does, add the MAC address of your comp to the allowed list.
