Watching The Muslims In Canada

Wow. I had thought there would be some of this in the US (and I bet there is), and I expected it in the UK, but it looks like Canada has a comprehensive program. I have the feeling that in the US, certain mosques are probably wired for sound.

I've been wondering what various nations around the world do in terms of watching (or not watching) Muslims.
Sure, your police may watch people known to be involved in criminal activity - but is your government watching them because they are Muslims?
And if your country is watching (or not watching them), do you agree with your government's apparent policy?

Good. All nations should comprehensively observe their muslims.

Wiretapping, Intercepting Email anything you can think of. If we think you are involved in terrorist groups we really dont stop at anything to get our information.

Yeah, one of my best friends Muslim, and I'm probably more likely to kill someone than he is.
As far as the Surveillance of the Mosques, I'd say it's the smaller ones "you would have to watch out for."

I think monitoring a huge demographic based purely on their religion is disgusting. I would not tolerate my Government doing it. However, we shouldn't get all superstitious about this, if we believe that there is a plot afoot within a Mosque, it should be treated as any other building, but I would hope that searching / surveillance of any private place of worship is done with in response to only credible tip-offs and not arbitrary bouts of Government Authoritarianism.
If a Terrorist act is committed - then a relatively small number of people will suffer at that one time. But if we allow our Governments to take total control in order to 'protect' us - then we will all suffer forever.

You wouldn't tolerate it? So if they are, which is very probable what would you do about it?

Germany's been doing that for a while as well. Verfassungsschutz agents have been shadowing certain Imams and their services because they were saying nasty things.

For all the respect for diverse opinions and stuff, at some point it does become unreasonable, and I think it makes sense to watch some of these services. Afterall these preachers are destroying people's lives, and it is a public place. But it's important to have a proper system to protect civil liberties at the same time.
