As you pointed out in the other thread, the suppressor is legal. My questions is: what licensing is required to own one here in the USA?

My second question: I used to own a Glock 17 (I loved it!), but I don't recognize the one in the pic, Especially the lower portion. Is it after market?

My google skills call it an Evolution 9 suppressor, for the Glock 17.

Link to Gun+Suppressor (http://www.impactguns.com/store/SP-G17AACWEB.html)
Link to Suppressor on AAC's website (http://www.advanced-armament.com/products/pistols/evolution9.asp)

It's $800, but if it works... :)

DK...why own a suppressor ?

I can see owning a machine gun..in fact I am looking into buying a 1923 Thompson with a hundred round drum and also can use the box magazine.

I also have my eye on a Bar and a M-14 ..both still in cosmoline. ( My dads a seriouse collector of military hardware...he has MG42 mounted in his bay window behind sandbags as a " conversation piece ") .:D

From what I understand its going to cost me about a year and around 5 grand .

I cant see owning a supressor unless it has some sort of collector value..

They burn out fast when you use them ....so whats the point of having one ?
Not bad

In my county, we can pay a tax to own a supressor. I was going to put one on my .22 and shoot squirrels in my back yard until I found some reduced-charge ammo that is nearly silent.

Modern suppressors are not something that burns out (they're not like the ones in the old days that use internal wipes).

You don't need your earmuffs...

They are a pian in the butt to load..and get really hard to wind and give you blisters...BUT when you actually get them working..OMG....

I built a tripod to put the celotex we were using as a target..( its got a big orange circle ..perfect )...I emptied trhe drum using burst..( you cant really fire without using three to five round burst because of the difficulty of holding on target and the barrell will burn out ..VERY expensive problem) .

The tree in back of the tripod fell over..:D it was about six inches in diameter..

Awesome .

Even though I felt bad about the tree . go figure..( my land BTW .)

And having my buddies make me up a tree killer battle ribbon and getting my balls broke about it for the weekend didnt help .:D

DK ...we have some abandoned bulldozers in the rock pit we shoot .50's at
A buddie had .50 cal ap round that were also incindiary...you ever hear of anything like that ? I have used the .30 and .50 cal black tipped ap...never these...lucky diesel doesnt explode..but the engine oil caught fire....

BTW ..they pierced the blade of the bulldozer .

Just modern machineguns.

You can own a modern suppressor. It's what keeps Gemtech and others in business.

Fill out the paperwork, get fingerprinted, get a photo, get it signed off on by a head-of-law-enforcement, pay the 200 tax and wait a while.

The excuse they are giving me is they are overwhelmed with homeland security issues and other changes that require ground pounding interviews as part of background checks.

Hey just for my pistol permit to carry I had a detective interview my neighbors to see if I was a nut ..or a wife beater..or whatever .

I would hope ..for common sense sake they would look a little closer at a MG permit..even my DAD with A FFL had a hard time and a long wait .

times they be a changing .

The killer is you must go through the procsess for EACH individual weapon..

Thanks for that link...I was looking in janes small arms ....couldnt find it .

Hehe, I've got an AK47 (under the radar) and I googled "drum clip" and they actually have them! But they're like 100 dollars. Can anyone get me a link to one that's cheap? Or maybe a link to a pin that makes the gun automatic? Or is that not tollerated on NS forums?

If caught...and in this enviroment with the PA and all the other shit going on chances are you will be..is it worth the jail time and the ban on ever owning a gun for the rest of your life ?

I can fire my Ak fast enough...in fact I prefer single action or three round burst ...you really do not need an auto ..unless its just for fun...but the ammo cost is crazy .

IMO an AK is inacurate enough..300 to 500 yrds. without making it worse .

I like my mini 14 better...MUCH better .

1. I'm not gonna get caught, especially where I live.
2. Buy the case of bullets, much cheaper.

1. The drums are generally not worth it, unless you like a weapon that rattles and jams.

2. Making a weapon fully automatic is a felony. Mere possession of any parts or plans is enough to land you in jail.

3. There are no drop-in parts for the AK that make it fully automatic.

4. You would have to machine the receiver precisely to modify the weapon as such - and you won't receive instructions on how to do that on NS, because that would violate the TOS.

Guns != evil.

People sometimes = evil.

Even sometimes a cop = evil.

Plenty of civilians use guns for civil goodness in the US. In fact, they do it more often than the police do.

I would trust my wife to cover my back before I would trust a police officer I didnt know just showing up ..
