What Pisses You Off?

Yeah, that's right. The NationStates forums could do with some more hate at the moment, so what small things really annoy you? Oh, and bitter, sarcastic comments are compulsory.

For me it's those strange people who turn the TV off when the adverts come on. *cringes*

But I'm sure there are many more infuriatingly petty things out there dying to be detested...

None, I'd say the young yobs are usually in prison, dead or stuck inside rehab. I'm usually most pleased with the second option.

I mean overly religious folks. I get along fine with normal religious folks. I'm complaining about the ones who go door to door disturbing people with the word of "god", and the ones who insist that their creation myth should be taught in science classes. Not to mention the ones who feel the need to turn their religious laws into real laws and who think their religion entitles them to commit violent acts.

Ah

But I suppose those 'overly' religious people think themselves just devout, and tend to be ruled by their religion, not the law, because to them religion IS law.

Yeah, I'm Christian, but I really have no desire to go "Spread the word of God." I think it's kind of rude when these guys come door to door telling you to convert. People can believe what they want, you don't need to go tell them what they should believe.

Another thing that bothers me are these Chuck Norris jokes.

1. They stopped being funny a long time ago.
2. I've watched his stuff before the jokes came around and I love his movies, but now people saying these stupid jokes and they don't even watch his movies or get why they're funny.

As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I've got a little list--I've got a little list
Of society offenders who might well be underground,
And who never would be missed--who never would be missed!
There's the pestilential nuisances who write for autographs--
All people who have flabby hands and irritating laughs--
All children who are up in dates, and floor you with 'em flat--
All persons who in shaking hands, shake hands with you like
that--
And all third persons who on spoiling tete-a-tetes insist--
They'd none of 'em be missed--they'd none of 'em be missed!
There's the banjo serenader, and the others of his race,
And the piano-organist--I've got him on the list!
And the people who eat peppermint and puff it in your face,
They never would be missed--they never would be missed!
Then the idiot who praises, with enthusiastic tone,
All centuries but this, and every country but his own;
And the lady from the provinces, who dresses like a guy,
And who "doesn't think she waltzes, but would rather like to
try";
And that singular anomaly, the lady novelist--
I don't think she'd be missed--I'm sure she'd not he missed!
And that Nisi Prius nuisance, who just now is rather rife,
The Judicial humorist--I've got him on the list!
All funny fellows, comic men, and clowns of private life--
They'd none of 'em be missed--they'd none of 'em be missed.
And apologetic statesmen of a compromising kind,
Such as--What d'ye call him--Thing'em-bob, and
likewise--Never-mind,
And 'St--'st--'st--and What's-his-name, and also You-know-who--
The task of filling up the blanks I'd rather leave to you.
But it really doesn't matter whom you put upon the list,
For they'd none of 'em be missed--they'd none of 'em be
missed!

Last night, there was a fire in one of the central university buildings on campus. While the fire department was trying put it out, things turned out badly and one fireman died.

The fact that this man has not seen the light of day this morning, that pisses me off!

I get pissed off at the near complete lack of subtlety upon these forums. It kills discussions as people will never progress, preferring to spin around in circles with strawmen, dodging, semantics, anything to concede a point to the other side of the argument.

If people would acknowledge that they and their ideas were not the end all, this would be a much better forum.

A challenge to everyone, when your ideas are met in confrontation, reduce them to agreement. Break them down until both sides are on like terms, and then build. At every impass, repeat the process until you reach your real point of contention, and then address that with an open mind.

This critical inspection may find serious flaws in your thinking, where a complete all-in-one defense of your idealogy may hide them even from yourself with the aforementioned misdirections.
