I'm not sure how it works in other countries, but in England, you don't have to go through any procedure for a particular type of day - you can just make one up off the top of your head, and get people to celebrate it :)

So....

I am officially starting National Overweight Persons Day (btw, not that it's relevant, but I'm actually slim - I just want a day to celebrate overweight people in contrast to all the mega slim models out there)

DETAILS:

Will start on the 23rd of August 2006

Will be the 23rd of August every day for each year after this year

Celebrations must involve eating vegan cake, but it must taste like non-vegan cake (so no rubbish brands). Vegan cake does NOT contain any animal products, such as egg, milk, etc. You can buy/make vegan chocolate cake (all brands should taste like non-vegan chocolate cake, as even non-vegan chocolate cake does not use proper chocolate), vegan victoria sponge cake, and various other vegan cakes.

The following message from the bible must be read out (you don't have to be religious, the message doesn't say anything about God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit in it, it's just a nice message): "Judge not, that ye may not be judged, for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you" (for anyone who's interested, it's written at Matthew 7:1-2)

There will be 3 pageants on the day - the clothed category (swimwear, bikinis, and similar clothing NOT allowed in this category), the swimwear category (swimwear AND bikinis (even if not suitable for swimming) in this category), and the nude category. There will be seperate pageants for males and females. The most overweight person with the personality the judges like most will win. Slim people will judge the winner, who will be crowned "Mr./Mrs. Sexy". Photos to be taken after winner has been crowned. All participants will be given an "I was fat enough to be in the Mr./Mrs. sexy Competition" shawl.

i know better than to be vegan. having all this veganism stuff will make your thing ignored.

Perhaps you could write to the PM and make it offical? Also will Hallmark bring out a range of celebratory cards?

Feel free to do that... but I find it a bit pointless.

yeh I guess as a vegan you'd be healthier, so it would kinda contrast with this National Day, if it's true that most overweight people are unhealthy. But anyway, I'm hardly going to advocate eating non-vegan cake when it's a result of animal cruelty am I? :P

So.... SNIP

.

Please remind me to come over and disrupt your self-celebration of self-indulgence.

Really, I don't exactly buy the theory that it is just your genes, or your family, or some other excuse.

If the excuse were true, why the dearth of obese Ethiopians?

All participants will be given an "I was fat enough to be in the Mr./Mrs. sexy Competition" shawl.

A shawl? I'm sure you can have something better than that. Give them a gift certificate to an all-you-can-eat buffet.

*decides to compete*

I must admit that I do indulge myself in a all-you-can-eater on a once per week base.

This is a celebration of being fat is it?

Lets see, you tell them what to eat for the day which seems to be your preference.

What a bible reference has to do with celebrating being over weight I have no idea….what’s the point? You’re saying ‘On this one day, I won’t judge you, I wont label you’ yet you proceed to promote a pageant where people are judged. Do you really think that a Fat person would want to be judged by a skinny person?

All participants will be given an "I was fat enough to be in the Mr./Mrs. sexy Competition" shawl Shouldn’t this be “I was SEXY enough to be in the mr/mrs sexy competition” ?

By all means, if people want to participate then here here, good for them, why they’d want to is beyond me. You don’t need to be ‘judge’ to know your beautiful, what ever your size.

For me, killing animals for food IS cruel (and of course it's unnecessary as thousands of veggies in England alone have proved, and as places like the American Meat Institute have reluctantly confirmed when they did their own investigation).

As for what I said in relation to VEGANISM (rather than vegetarianism), I believe it's cruel to steal from animals, and I've seen evidence of the way in which that stuff (milk etc) is stolen, and the animals are seriously mistreated (same goes for animals that are killed for eating).

It's not a theory. Check on the web and a book or two. People can be born with a condition that makes them overweight. As for the fasmily "excuse", depends what you mean... if someone is upset, they do something taht makes them feel better. Unfortunately, even for people who are already overweight, this happens to be eating a lot of food.

But the reason for a thin person judging was so people couldn't say "oh yeh, they're bound to say their beautiful when they're fat theirself" if an overweight person was used. O.K. though, maybe pageant could just be a celebration of overweight people, no judging. It could be called the "Sexiest Women Event" :)

Not sure. Because the emphasis on being overweight was to show that being overweight is no less sexy than being underweight like so many models are these days.
