Why do Muslim terrorist groups have the best names?

Look at them:
Al Qaeda(the base)
Hamas(Islamic Resistance Movement)
Hezbollah(Party of God). Focus more on the Arabic name than the translation.
Now let's compare:
ETA(Basque Homeland and Freedom)
IRA(Irish Republican Army)
and various other random terrorist groups for whatever reason.
I find the Muslims ones far more interesting that some bleh acronym, although Hamas is an acronym. Anyone? Or am I just a whackjob.
If I created a terrorist group, it would most certainly have some sort of interesting name, likely in Arabic.

Well actually the IRA's 'real' name is Óglaigh na hÉireann and ETA is Euskadi Ta Askatasuna if you dislike the acronym.

I would name my terror group "OMG KILL YOU DEAD!!!!!!".
I would love to see CNN do a report on that.

Those are too long. Needs to be short and concise. Like if Hitler's dad stayed Schiklgruber, he'd never have ruled Germany.
-Castro
-Hussein
-Chavez
-Zedong
-Stalin
All short and six-lettered.

Yes but it is easier to wear an IRA shirt around in America than it is to wear a shirt that says "Al Quaeda". Not that I would wear an Al Quaeda shirt.

Al Qaeda(the base) Agreed
Hamas(Islamic Resistance Movement) Sounds like hummus, which makes me think of chic peas
Hezbollah(Party of God). Focus more on the Arabic name than the translation. That one's just plain wierd
I think a Latin or German name would be the most awesome. Latin because personally I think it sounds so pleasing to the ear. German, because then you could have a one word name as long as the page it's written on.

Well, there were the Sons of Liberty, and the Boston Tea Party. I like those.
Sons of Liberty might sound a little too jingoistic, but I love the name Boston Tea Party. Without context, it just sounds so wacky and random.
"The Boston Tea Party? Who knows what they'll do next! They're crazy, just look at thier name!"

Last time I checked, most of the terrorists are named Abu. No joke, three out of the 11 hijackers who flew the planes or orchestrated the event were named Abu. Abu Zarqawi was one of them, then he died and got replaced by another Abu. They need to get more creative.

German would work, but still moight not have the oomph. Latinb is sort of bleh for terrorism.

Al Qaeda sounds like some average dude's name. "Albert Kada" or something.
Hamas always makes me think of the words Ham Ass. Like a fat person's nickname.
Hezbollah, God bless you. Need a kleenex?
And you're neglecting the Moro Islamic Liberation Front or MILF. MILF is no kind of name for a bunch of sweaty little Fillipino guys building bombs in the jungle.
I disagree.
Shining path, New Peoples Army, Liberation Tigers, The Lord's Resistance Army, Red Hand Defenders, Red Brigade, etc.
Those are all pretty badass. And not muslims.

It has to do with evility. The more evil you are, the cooler you are. It is a deal between god and the devil wherein the devil get aesthetic appeal to compensate for his lack of supreme power. The more evil an individual or group, the cooler they are in general. This doesn't just apply to terrorists either. Think of Stalin, the red army, Nazis (especially SS), The Devil himself, Supervillians, rich people, and sharks.

Stalin = the Man of Steel
I heard on the radio, in a facetious way, that "Stalin" used to be in Eastern Europe an acceptable answer to any question:
Why is the sky blue? Stalin.
Where do babies come from? Stalin.
Where are those men taking Daddy? Stalin.

Well, look at some other terrorist groups:
PKK: Kurdistan's worker's party (sounds uncannily like KKK, which is uncool. Kurds are generally muslims)
Janjaweeds (those african dudes though I don't remember where it is they're from)
Americans (oh come on, you have to admit that's a crappy name, especially considering it's based on the WRONG GUY who discovered america! hmm, I wonder if columbus had gotten more credit in his own time, would the United states of america be the United states of Columbia? )
Not so much terrorist but rebels and such:
Red/white army (it just sounds cool. Imagine you're a commie in russia during the struggles. "OH SHIT THE WHITE ARMY IS COMING!!>!one!". and vice versa)
while we're on the topic, what's the name of the chechen rebel movement?

Dude, I have personally been to a graveyard where literally 60-75% of male graves beared "PROUD MEMBER OF THE IRA" engraved for everyone to see. They might not be wearing IRA t-shirts, but they sure as hell aren't too queasy about it. Remember, all form of freedom fighters think they are right. In fact, screw freedom fighters, everybody always thinks they're right.

You can't blame the PKK for sounding a bit like another organisation who's name is derived from a completely separate language, like if your name was Natsy McFashiste you wouldn't like it if people made dispersions about you. And while the Kurds are by-and-large Muslims, they are certainly not Islamists, quite the opposite, there is a large Marxist tradition amongst Kurds, arising from their constain persecution by the fundamentalist Arabs and Persians throughout history, and also due to the good social works the Communist PKK conducts.
The Janjaweedi were from Sudan, I don't think their methods were subtle enough to warrant the sinister title of Terrorist, they merely rode around on horses killing Africans indescriminately.
