Tent camps have become a familiar sight in Paris since the aid group Doctors of the World, or Medecins du Monde, first distributed tents in December to shelter the homeless and make their plight less invisible.

But complaints about the tents have been pouring into City Hall, and four tents were burned this weekend in circumstances that are still unclear. With Paris sweltering in a heat wave, authorities say the tents are unsanitary and dangerous.

Socialist City Hall wants many of them moved, and the conservative government wants them just plain gone.

Hmm. So if you're socialist, it's "out of sight, out of mind" and if you're conservative, it's "get them out of here".

Of course, this is a parallel to the strawman thread that says that all Republicans hate the poor...

So as a response, you make a strawman argument about the french?

To show how ridiculous the other thread is, yes.

Doh!

I once got my motorcycle fixed for free by a guy at his shop in a town an hour from my house when I didn't have the few dollars on me to replace the chain. He told me that his family was living at the "tent city" at the local elementary school following the 9.21.99 earthquake. (I sent him the money!) 200 buildings had collapsed in that town. The local government shut down a hypermarket retailer for doubling the price of tents after the earthquake. Except for the corrupt Chinese nationalist party, that does characteristic things like distribute whiskey to aboriginal tribes to buy their votes, I don't see much evidence of people in Taiwan being overtly hostile to the poor or underpriveleged.

Well I hate poor people. Always bugging me for change and all.

Couldn't they just be born rich??

In Las Vegas, it is legal to feed pigeons in the park - but it is illegal to feed the homeless humans.

That's discrimination! They should also make it illegal to feed homeless pigeons!

But that makes perfect sense. Pigeon poo on your clothes is a little annoying, homeless poo stinks.

Makes perfect sense. Because the parallel opposite of the Republican is the Frenchman.
*and I BET someone argues that's true^*

To be fair, the French really don't like anyone except the French.

Apparently the OP suggests the French don't like the French poor, so that's not quite true... or am I being pedantic..?

EDIT; yes, I am. The French only like the French... but not even all the French... that's how the reasoning MUST go in a thread like this. My bad.

No, it's not. It's just a perfect indication that the French government is in no way socialist, despite the name of the ruling party. It's a joke.

after the french fries(the belgium version),we all see that even the poor can be french, wich doesn't mean all french are poor, this is why victor hugo wrote the miserable and dared to say "je suis tombé par terre,ç'est la faute a voltaire ,le cul dans le ruisseau c'est la faute a rousseau"
