Well, it's on Bush's desk now.
What some states have already will now be Federal mandate, and the penalties for not keeping registered appear to be stiffer than the penalties in most states.
It's about time, I say.

Assuming they keep it more accurate than most of the states do and have severe penalties for illegal actions using it.

Heh, stiffer penalties for sex offenders :D
Okay okay, I'll stop joking around - a Federal database is probably a good thing.

What conviction would get you on the d/b?

He'll have to add a signing statement exempting members of Homeland Security. For national security reasons, of course. :p

How detailed is the information people would be able to find? Knowing there is a sex offender on your street is a good thing for parents; providing complete contact details so they can be lynched probably isn't the wisest thing in the world to do.

And assuming the database is updated regularly/correctly enough so some poor innocent w/ a similar name or who later moves into the same address isn't attacked.
What conviction would get you on the d/b?
This is an important question. I think that needs to be well known and unchangeable ex post facto.

yeah, as it is now, people that haven't even committed a crime...let alone a crime against a child....can end up on a child predator list. talk about loony

But it left out burning at the stake!
Or stripping them, tying them down to a fire ant mound, and coating them with honey, THEN burning them at the stake.
I want a true law and order President, darn it!

Is this any sex offender? Because kids can become sex offenders for taking naked pictures of themselves, that's sorta stupid.

I don't like the idea of someone’s location being provided especially if they have done there time (and/or hopefully rehabilitation)
also when do I start reporting my parents for embarrassing childhood photo’s (don't act like you don't know we all have them just waiting for the perfect time to strike with there half naked cowboy-ness)

And no rack!
No drawing and quartering! Or nickel and diming either.
No waterboarding!
Dang liberals!
