Okay, so while we're all participants in these various mud-slinging contests of verbal, anonymous and (generally) intellectual and sometimes violent debate, which thread type (genre) really gets you off? I mean, seriously, which type really gets the blood boiling to a point where you actually have to step away from the screen for a moment to recover your thoughts after witnessing the completely ignorant remarks of an opposing viewpoint that could not possibly be right? Come on, let's see which threads are just too damn hot!

I'm a sucker for social threads. *le sigh*

A good troll followed by 3 dozen "in before the lock +1" posts gets my nipples hard.

Civil rights because I can refer to the US Constitution. Religion, because I find the study of people's imaginary friends fascinating. I love polls of just about any sort, and I really liked the way you arranged the choices in this one so we got a nice visual slope from top to bottom.

You gotta admit, that OP is worded pretty interestingly.

My personal experience is usually with the "United States Govt." threads being the most obviously volatile and upsetting (not that i help much), but religion/the like are a close second as stupidity goes. I measure it by means of veracity and empirical evidence, et cetera.

I like threads that are soft with social issues and tight with tension. I like how my rock hard arguments scrape the walls of convention while my wit tweaks playfully on the nubs of controversy. I like when the thread gets hot and the responses get strained and then it all breaks loose with cascades of hot retorts and counter thrusts. Then all that's left is a few follow up jabs, withdrawal from the argument, fluffles and a smoke.

No, but I have a recipe for C4, and have a crude knowledge of making nitroglycerine from natural ingredients. No slings, but we could use the explosives to turn trees into large logs and make rope out of wild plant matter.

Now we just have to hang out on Endor together.

In one of my Books of Lists there's a sequence on how to mix certain vegetables and common medicinal products to result in cardiac arrest under certain circumstances, strangely enough. I never did learn what was in C4. As for the making of nitroglycerine, yeppers, i might have similar source material from a couple of places. :)

So, are you saying that your main thrust is to prick holes in someone's weaker debate position and that you must continue mounting your offensive to penetrate any crack in their defenses so that you can lay to rest their supposed dominant position? So, let's get on them then, because if they do fantasize that they may have a vaild point, it'll be hard for them to get it up. If we all come together on this, I think, we can whip this thing into submission. It'll be hard on us all but we can't lick it by being soft, can we? Otherwise, we're just paying it lip service.
