Runescape - is it worth it?

I've found out about a game called "Runescape" on the internet, but I've started the tutorial and, considering it's supposed to be a tutorial, it's not very easy to get through - it needs a tutorial for the tutorial basicly. The "tutorial" takes a very long time and I'm only about halfway through, so I was wondering, is it all worth it or will I end up finishing the tutorial only to find some shitty game?

I played for 2 years. Its fun at first but takes a longgg time to lvl up. I would say not to waste your time with it

No. It's a complete waste of time. Or at least, I thought so.

My eight and ten year old son play it quite a bit. The eight year old is quite the successful tradesman - buying and selling items for profit to and from other players. He has a heck of a good time.

I don't play it - but I figure if they can so can you. $5 monthly aint too bad either. I'd be interested in knowing how it ranks compared to Ultima - which I have played. I've considered introducing my boys to that.

Runescape's crap. There's better free games out there.

I recall giving up on it half-way through the tutorial myself... moved on to minesweeper; better graphics.

I liked it when I was younger, in it's second and third years. Eventually it gets extremely boring and repetitive, and it's rather slow to start off.

Well... I used to play Runescape, and the tutorial wasn't hard at all. Just follow the yellow arrows, you'll be fine. For a while it's pretty fun, but once you reach level 60 and you're unable to be a member, it sucks. That's why I stopped playing, I had to pay for all the good stuff. My parents wouldn't let me be a member :(.

Well, if you enjoy twelve-year olds shouting noob at you every 5 seconds and boring, repetitive gameplay go for it.

my brother's friend liked it and actually decided to pay for the game. a couple of months later he managed to become rank #1 in runescape in the world. afterwards he told us it was crap and wasn't worth it. go figure.

Not really worth it. I played it for a few months back in 2004, then I got bored of it. Now, I occassionally log on to see if it gets interesting again; I take a few steps, and then log off again.

So, no.

Definately not. Its boring, the graphics are bad, the players are always shouting noob and stuff. I played for about an hour then never went back.

hehehehe, the primary school I helped teach a while back at had a 'Runescape Club' for after schools and lunchtimes for the older year groups...nearly everyone of them had a character...

But, don't play it, the game is awful.

Go get EV:Nova and the crack for it instead...

If the internet has an anus, then Runescape is it. It's where the dregs of humanity gather to misspell at each other and cross-dress.

I've known someone who got started on it, it ruined his life. He lost his job over it, said quitting it was like trying to go cold turkey with drugs.

Anyhow, I played for two years. And when RS2 came out, quiting was so very easy for me. I hated it. I prefered the original "classic" version of the game.

I say no. I played for just under a year, then I realised I'd forgotten about this thing called "the real world". Runescape is very addictive, but boring and repetitive.

It's ok, but it gets boring. I've quit playing it, but it was fun for a while.

I've played the game for 3 years and got the hang of it within a few weeks... soon it got boring and slow and laggy and etc...etc...etc.... its a waste of time, thats why I stopped playing it and it was tooo addictive<--- which was very bad >,<

My advice: don't play it... its a waste of your time.

There are better, free mmo's. Runescape is a waste of time and has -to my knowledge- The single worst gaming community online.
