I have noticed in the past, that there are some people that just don't like me (okay a LOT of people that don't like me, and some for good reason) but, I can be nice, mostly.

Now, I was thinking, can I really be nice? I mean really?

Okay, can you name a poster (or two, or five) that even though you disagree with, that you respect?

I can name a few. I think we could all get along if we built the forum on mutual respect, except some people well, they will never have my respect, but in the sense of being nice, let's all focus on the positive.

No flaming, no "I can tell you who I will never respect" none of that.

who do you respect? whether you disagree with them or not.

yeah, that's about it for now, can't really list everyone. Those are the three though that I can debate for hours, disagree the whole time and still respect them, never think of a good flame, they are of blameless character.

I rarely think in those terms. I guess the best I could say is I respect those I am disinclined to mock ;)

there are too many to remember or list.

most people who stay here long enough to remember their names are worthy of respect. most make good solid points when they can be bothered to try. many (bites fingers to keep from naming names) have annoying quirks and blind spots that bug me greatly but not so much that i dont respect them in other aspects of their NS life

i do want to give a special mention of melkor unchained whose posts i love even though i disagree with him on his most important issues.

Well, I can think of only a few posters off the top of my head that I disagree with on everything.

And they only usually last a month or so, how could I come to respect them if they don't stick around?

I honestly don't know why you get so much flak, Smunkee...I remember you from the very first, with people jumping down your throat and making all sorts of crazy assumptions about you based on the fact you stated you were religious.

I respect Katganistan, though I often disagree with her. I also respect Ny Nordland, mostly because he's honest in his radical views on a board where almost everyone *including me* will jump on his back about those views. That takes hootsba.

Philosophy. I've had a few decent arguments with him, despite being able to insult him entirely accidentally.

Junii always seems to try to cool down situation. He seems able to argue in a way that cools a hothead rather fan a flamer.

Jacobia is respectable and unwavering.

Same with katganistan.

Upwardthrust is reasonable even when I disagree with him.

I heat up over stuff too much and then cool down fairly quickly too.

They already have crushes. Dont you see how they pick at one another and have little tiffs and squabbles in moderation to get one another's attentioon? Its just a matter of time and opportunity I reckon.

I've actually met quite a few people on here that I respect, and quite a few I don't. There are, of course, the in betweens, but they get lost in the shuffle, it seems.

Ha, perfect. I just spent ten minutes unsuccessfully trying to say basically that and eventually giving up.

I tend to like everyone except the really rude. I would never dislike someone just because they held different political views to me; in many ways, it's much more interesting to have friends you can debate with than ones who just agree with everything you say.

In fact, now that I think about it, most of the people who I disagree with on a regular basis are people who I also respect...the trolls tend to fade away quickly, I guess, and I'm left with a bunch of worthy opponents.

Maybe that's why I still hang around this joint. ;)

First of all, who the hell doesn’t like Smunkee? I may disagree with her on a lot of things, but I for one am glad that someone who seems to be reasonably responsible is raising kids. Maybe they’ll grow up into people I won’t hate, maybe.

As for posters I disagree with on certain issues, some more than others, but still respect:

Fass (I can’t spell whatever his new nation in is)- Every forum should have a Fass. How else is anybody going to know that they've just made a shit thread?
Peechland- Disagree with on nearly everything and actually managed to disgust on more than one occasion, but me disgusting someone is probably a good sign of their compasion
Neu Leonstein- Funny, as he's become teh under capitalist, I've managed to slightly mello in that catergory.

You know, there was a person who asked if humanity could just get along for a change. We nailed Him to some planks, then repented, started calling him the Son of God and made a religion that was initially based on his teachings. In the end, however, said religion was warped by the powers that be into something completely unlike the spirit of His original message. Do we really want to ask people to get along?
