I've designed a new bearing

My magnettic bearing uses magnetic repulsion, the force that pushes magnets away from eachother when you hold both in a certain way, to seperate a moving part from a non-moving part. Most bearings are solid, using either small balls or wheels to reduce friction. Sometimes, lubricant is added to further decrease friction. With my design, the only friction would be air-friction. I'll try to get a working prototype to test it out.

Just how feasible is my idea?

It's already invented.

Damn it. Oh well. If it's something I learned, it's that if you try to invent something, it's been invented before.

Good ideas are good for a reason though.

If this stuff interests you read up on it. You might find a non-obvious patentable improvement and become filthy stinking rich and buy me a yacht.

I'm not so much a mechanical/physics type, but I've come up with some neat stuff with my programming. Its been done before but working through to come up with it "on my own" helped me learn and advance more than simply reading someone elses work.
