1. If you are suicidal, do not come to NS for help. This is not the suicide hotline. If you're just feeling bad, that's one thing, but if you're standing on the ledge, get off your laptop and go inside and call for help.
2. If you are experiencing problems with your medication, or are suffering from a medical condition, do not come here for medical advice. None of us can get to you in time, even if we were doctors.
3. If you are having legal problems, do not come here for legal advice. Some of us are lawyers, but you're not paying us, and we're not licensed to practice law in your country.

Would 30 tablets of xloryphlixoanusophyllis do the job?

2 and 3 are ok, but i disagree with 1. if someone's needing to talk or let some stuff out, and is more comfortable talking to strangers online than people IRL, then why not let them come here for advice? often people here have been through similar things, and depression or 'zomg i'm gonna kill myself' threads get quite a serious response from people who've had first hand experience and are willing to share what they know in order to try to help. i don't see anything remotely problematic with that.

Yeah. I've been suicidal before, and would gladly help any one who wanted help with that issue. Frankly, this may be the only place some folks feel safe talking about it, and I'd rather not close off the only place they feel safe. Not a good thing to do to a suicidal person.

I really do prefer it if they seek professional help, but if this is what's needed...

Yeah, it could go that way.
Or someone like me could reply to the thread.

Man, sounds to me like you've got some real bad legal problems due to problems with your medications and as a result are feeling suicidal.
Would you like to talk to us about it?

The anonymity of NS can be seen as a place where they might not get judged. Of course, they probably will and there are enough bastards out there who make people conisdering suicide feel like shit.

For those reasons, I don't think it's a good idea.. It's for their own safety not to ask for help here.

of course, but often talking about things they feel to strangers can be the first step of reaching out, and even realising that you're not totally alone and other people can not only sympathyse but also have gone through similar things... that in itself is an important step to take on the way to getting proper help.

I'm glad you're so supportive of the people who aren't feeling great about life.

If that person going to seize on a post at random, and take it as life counselling, medical or legal advice, none of the above.

If however they can read a forum properly, and distinguish BS from truth: all of the above, and much more besides.

So they don't know to go to a doctor for advice about a sharp pain in their abdomen? They come here? At least one decent NS'er will tell them to go to a doctor. I don't see a problem
