This is just ridiculous. How can anyone in the government say that they're serious about "winning the war on terror" when shit like this happens (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/07/22/ap/politics/mainD8J0OO807.shtml)?

It's nothing the DoD can do-it's civilian, and thus somewhat legal. It's up to the gov't to crack down on the high tech weapons being sold, however if the crack down on stuff such as body armor I'll be pissed. Those things cost a few hundred new, so I'd be saving a big bundle.

However, I LIKE the thought of getting cheap body armor and weapons parts. I'll have to go check it out.

Thanks for the headsup.

Actually, according to the article, it can:
"DOD has not enforced security controls for preventing sensitive excess military equipment from release to the public," the report concluded. "GAO was able to purchase these items because controls broke down at virtually every step in the excess property turn-in and disposal process."

Dude, nobody in the US government takes anything seriously anymore. You only have two parties, and all they care about is their own party. Reps only like Reps, and money. Dems only like Dems, and only care about screaming at Reps. That's why I hope somebody votes Independent in the next election. Sadly I'll only be 16 then :(

It's an amusing read, though I don't see why body armour sales to the public are a problem. It is a more legitimate sale than actual guns, that's for sure.

I agree. :D

But, WAIT A SECOND! We must think like a moron! Let's see... selling body armor to the public wil encourage MORE violence! It's just like selling contraceptives to 15 year olds!

[/sarcasm] :p
