Oh yay!

I haven't been camping in a long time! I'd love to go again though, it's so peaceful and beautiful in the bush :)

well, we did go camping two years ago in my firend's back garden, but REAL camping? That was about three years ago when me and a couple of mates went up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - it was tons of fun, and we got to go back home to a nice field att he end of every day.

Hmm, that's quite a bit of time ago though...must go more often...

it has been too long.....

As a side note, I am in St. Louis, MO and about half a million people are without power since a horrible storm Wednesday night, so it is almost as if they are permanently camping..

Leeds, last summer. Camping's no fun unless you're in a field with 100,000 people on various substances.

*tries not to be crude*

I love it so much! Get my little camp chairs out, lanterns, oil burners, camp stove, I just love it all. The last place we went was overlooking the sea, it was gorgeous.

Download, six weeks ago. Great fun. Especially when the people in the tents surrounding you give you weed for free when they're high on coke. Especially fun when you wake up one morning, come out of the tent for a piss, and the first thing you see is a tree on fire.

Not so fun when you wake up at 4 every morning when the sun rises and turns your tent into an oven.

Did you employ the official festival drinking rules? You know, a beer before you've stood up in the morning.

I've never been to a festival, and I would dearly love to. Might try for glastonbury the next time around.

Good luck - I'm going to try going as a steward with Oxfam. You can get all your volunteer hours done before the festival actually starts, then you get free access to the festival.

Come with meeeeeeeee :D you know it would be awesome if all of us met up to go camping. Can you imagine us all sat around in a circle, there would be so many stories and things to learn about people. It would be great :)

And yes...my mind has been known to be pretty dirty, I apoogise!

Nope. We kept the beer outside the tents in the shade. Fortunately we were far enough away from the paths for them not to be nicked. But the first thing of the day was always a spliff and a barbecue.

Mmm my friend and her sister did that last year. Worth a shot maybe. I'll be skint by then anyway so I may well do that. Have you been before?

Metal and punk. They had to call in three vans of riot police on the last night after Guns N' Roses.

No, I never think it's worth it. I'd have loved to see Radiohead there in '97 (I think it was then), but I'm not really so much into the mainstream rock/pop/indie. I'm considering going to a few festivals across Europe next year - there's a rock/metal one in Serbia, a metal one in France, and then Roskilde in Denmark. Oh, and I want to go to Truck next year as well.

Love to, but you don't live in Australia, do you? :p

It would be fantastic indeed, but rather difficult to orchastrate, I'd imagine...

You slick bastard. I don't think I could hack smoking that early, it tends to leave me dopey as fuck for hours afterwards. Also, please tell me the riots were because Guns were shit, because otherwise I'll be pissed off at the rock crowd of today.

@New Peeland - you like indie/pop/soft rock-type stuff? I recommend V, Glasto (when it's on) T in the Park, Oxegen (if you can get there) and, at a push, Leeds/Reading festival.

Phwoar, good times huh. I'd be going for the atmosphere I think, meeting people and having a generally good time. I'm not that hot on music, I enjoy lots of different things, tend not to fit stuff into catagories. I either like it or I dont.

Hmm I think I've been classing Reading as a bit outside my 'zone' as it were. Although a few friends are going this year so I'll have to see what they make of it. It's so bloody expensive. Think Ive got a bit of a hippy inside somewhere, needs a chance to get out :D

Yeah, Leeds and Reading have put their prices up over £40 in 4 years, the money-grabbing, exploitative corporate whore-bags. Plus, Reading and Leeds have indied up their line-ups a bit more than usual this year to accomodate all the Glasto people who can't go this year.

I do enjoy nature. Something nice about a tent, a fishing pole, a good knife, some matches, some rice, and a first aid kit being all you need to surivive.

I try to go camping 4-5 times a year.

Yeah, but they're the heaviest band by far. I think that was more to appease the people who liked the slightly heavier line-up of previous years. That Friday will probably be the best - I mean, Slayer and Pearl Jam? Gods of Rock and Metal, tbh. I'll be attending both, front row hopefully.

@New Peeland - I'm a poor student, too. I'm just out of my first year, no job and dwindling assets, and I had to pay extra for Leeds tickets this year because they sold out so damn quick (and I'm an idiot). Still going though - keep the faith. :D

The lime is for staunching wounds, of course. And the vodka for emergency anaethesia (eg amputations.)

Camping is about being in nature.

And if you're with friends, it's very intense. "Being together" in nature is a lot more real than sitting in a room together watching a vid. Serious talking, serious silence.

I love it too, but haven't been able to go for quite some time now. Sigh. My favorite sort of camping is backpacking, preferably in the wilderness, carrying everything you need on your back. Some of the peak experiences in my life have been when I was backpacking. :)
