Oh, and I feel for you in your loss. I know how it feels to lose a cat- I have about 20 or so of them... (seriously)

Ah, I'm so sorry for your loss! We have six inside cats, two outside cats, and about eight cats in a feral colony that we maintain. Our last death was back in May -- our outside alpha female, Pumpkin, died very quickly from cytauxzoonosis. She was missing for a couple of days, and when she came back, she was pretty much gone. The vet told us that she had cytauxzoonosis and she had to be put down the same day. The surprise deaths are no easier than the ones that you know are coming; the previous death was three years ago, and Gravy was dying of cancer for months before we finally put him to sleep. He hadn't been eating for about three days and the vet was afraid that he might die from seizures, so we put him to sleep before it could metastisise in his brain. It was very hard to make both decisions, but at least we could be at peace with them before they died -- I've been lucky enough to monitor and choose when my cats have gone over rather than just finding them, so I can't even begin to imagine the pain you're feeling right now.

My thoughts are with you.

If you think that cats suck, then you obviously haven't had the right cat. When my dad was younger, he had a Persian named Fluffy, and from that cat, he decided that all cats were assholes. Zoom forward fifteen years and he meets my mom, and Mama has a Siamese named Kaicee who is a huge fan of balled-up socks. From being around Kaicee, Daddy realises that cats aren't so bad. Now, he lives in a house with six cats and even has his own personal cat named Jyou who is a huge tuxedo cat. All of our cats are even cool with our Golden Retriever coming in the house and laying down with them (not so fond of the Setter yet, but she's only three months old). We get a lot of people who come to our house and say that they hated cats until meeting our collection, especially my cat Little Man, who couldn't hate anyone even if he tried. In fact, Little Man is even a therapy cat to go along with our therapy dog Bellamy, and his younger "sibling," Jackson, is in training to be a therapy cat.

In other words, keep looking around. There's a cat for everyone :D.

My Cat was bad ass. It would go hunting and shit all the time, and bring back dead stuff. I was in my field one night, this bad ass racoon rose from the ground and hissed at me. I was like, "Aww fuck!" Then my cat sprinted over and kicked the shit out of it! It was bad ass. I swear to god, it ripped that bitches eye out.

my cat died last year - in fact we're coming up on the anniversary now. he was 16... i miss him :( but i try not to think about him.

my cats just turned a year old, but a few months back she decided to jump off of the balcony... five stories down:( We thought she was gonna die or something like that but it turned out pretty well in the end, she only broke one of her front paws. Her previous owners didn't want her though just because she's deaf, but she's an adorable cat and i haven't met anybody yet who doesn't like her:D

The ole saying is in some ways true: Cat's have nine lives. Strangely enough if they drop off 2 or fewer stories they suffer serious injuries. Not enough time to react and go into a soft landing posture.

Shit. I dont know why they do that. A friend of mine's cat did that too. In the first time he was ok and also pissed on my friend while they were taking him to vet in car...LOL...They vet told them that the cat was fine but just traumatized and to leave him in dim light for the night.
However, the cat did it again (much later) and he was older and he couldnt survive the 2nd time so better watch out....

My (bit belated, but nevertheless meant) condolences, mate..I know what it is like to loose a pet that you were fond off..And it sucks, ass..Trying to think that your kitty's in a nicer place might help..It did in my case.

Losing pets is no fun, but I'm sure you'll torture yourself again with another one.

sorry about your cat, did you do a memorial service for him? it doesn't have to be long, but it can help.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe he was poisened by something? Maybe something a neighbour caused? I'd be like fucking Sharlock Holmes if something like that happened to our cat (god forbid!).
