Music Players
Lately I've been having problems with iTunes. It will crash after a few hours then will not start up until I restart. This is simply unacceptable. I am much too lazy to wait the two minutes for my compy to restart. I got Winamp going in the mean time, but it just doesn't seem to be what I want. On my Linux install, I use amaroK, and really like it.
What do you suggest I use to play my music? Ogg support would be appreciated. So would Flac support.

I have no idea what Ogg and Flac are, so I'll simply say Creative Zen Vision: M, or SanDisk Sansa.

I mean the programs for your computer. Like Windows Media Player, Winamp, iTunes. Not mp3 players.

I've been giving the Quintessential Player a spin. Not too bad, but not too great either. It can take some Winamp plug-ins.
I don't like iTunes. Too bloated. I wish there was a Windows version of Amrok, but it seems unlikely that the necessary libraries will be ported.

Winamp is by far the best for sound quality and style. You just need to tweek it a bit untill you get it to sound right.

I like winamp too much to play around with other players.
Either that or I'm just lazy.

Ogg vorbis is the file system that Winamp utilizes. Not sure who came up with flac, but I know Foobar will play them on your PC.

Winamp can play both Ogg and Flac, but I think you need a plugin for Flac (not sure about Ogg).

Vorbis is a compression format, like mp3 or aac. It's lossy, meaning that it compresses information by getting rid of some of it. Flac is a losless compression format, that means it doesn't throw away any information. They are both developed as open source.
Ogg is a container for multimedia information. Winamp uses whatever, it just needs to know what codec to use.

Ogg is played natively by Winamp. I just cannot stand Winamps interface.
Also, much of my music is in Ogg or Flac format, and I am much too lazy to re-rip it to my harddrive.
Damned iTunes.
Just uploaded a bunch of songs to my sister's iPod. Then deleted the songs from my library (I riped them from the CD). I go to unmount the iPod, and it deleted all the songs off the iPod too.
Shoulda used GKPod.

I stand corrected. Thank you.

I recoment Xplay. It's a program that allows you to drag-and-drop files onto your iPod, just like a music folder. And it converts most formats on the fly if it needs too. I'm not sure about FLAC, but I'm pretty sure the latest versions would support Vorbits
If not, go for Switch (http://www.nch.com.au/switch). Very useful freeware* program: converts any audio format to another. Then just use the mp3s (or accs if you wish) on the iPod.
*The basic version (which has ALL the advertised functionality and NO restrictions), is free, but also you can pay for the advanced version with more features. This is I think the way all shareware-ish software should be ^.^
I like quintessential. Free, simple, yet fairly powerful.

What does it do? And linky?

Quintessential is better than Winamp, but it still isn't heading in the right direction.

I use Windows Media Player for most things and then RealPlayer for any RealMedia. I have QuickTime player loaded for weird Apple stuff.
Avoid Sony SonicStage or Connect player.

RealPlayer
May the Lord in his infinite mercy protect us all from RealPlayer. Thankfully the forces of light have provided an alternative that goes by the name of RealAlt.

I'd like so see codecs for RealPlayer files for WMP so I can rid of RealPlayer.

Why do you need to play Real Media Files in the firstplace? Which porn site is that ass backwards?
